Took a trip to my dad's friend's auto shop...
Picked up a bunch of car care products. I got mothers car wax (the kind in the tin), mothers leather conditioner, armorall tire cleaner, armorall wheel cleaner, gliptone car wash, a suber-absorbant tower thing, glass cleaner, detailer's choice cheesecloth, and detailer's choice wash mit.
Good choices? Anything wrong that I should know?
Can't wait for the weekend

Sounds good...its whatever works for you.
I use Turtle Wax on my accord coupe and it shines awesome. Last year at Hot Import Nights, I tried Meguiars that I got from a bunch of NSX guys who wanted me to try it out and that impressed me even more.

dude you just posted this thread didn't you?

i listed all the stuff i used and you said it sounded like it was too much of a hassle and wanted something simpler. from the list of supplies you got it sounds like you are going to spend just as much time as i do. most of that stuff you listed is for the just ok stuff. i use to use mother's products but that's before i learned about meguiars. i strongly advise getting clay and microfiber but you went with terry cloth which is ok. if you skip the clay you will not have a completely clean surface. super absorbing towel thing does not work. it leaves about a billion hairs of lint when used. armorall products suck and is never recommended on any detailing forum. i am surprised that you got that from a body shop. usually reputable shops use professional grade detailing products and not retail products. if you check out meguiars site they have 2 lines of products, a retail one and a professional grade one. i am not a zaino guy but do love meguiars products. they are proven products and are highly recommended among alot of car enthusiasts.

GaleForce, let me know how that leather conditioner works. As far as the exterior stuff, I agree with the other posts about meguiars being the best, but I've never had leather before, so I'm interested as to how the mothers works.
lexol for leather hands down. the TL leather is wayyyyy too dry from the factory. i have applied the conditioner 4 times already and the leather has really sprung back to life. its alot softer than went i first got the car.
Caball, I know, but when I got into the store I just couldn't resist!
As for my choices, this is the stuff he recommended, and owning an auto shop gains trust from me. I'll try it out and if it doesn't work I will say something to him. But he did say the super absorbing towel is something everyone uses and everyone likes, his friends at least, so I am going to give it a go.
He also said Mothers makes better conditioner than the lexol. Gonna give it a try this weekend and I will let you know.

Lexol is excellent but streaks on some leather, usually on high dollar smooth grained hides. Leatherique is as good or better but few if any have reported streaking.
As for wheel cleaner I don't use it except on my beaters because I am too lazy to wash them often enough to prevent brake dust from caking, good old water is enough for me on my nicer cars.
I am a Zaino guy for the paint, I dry with a water blade and finish with a VERY clean chamois. But for wax instead of polymer like Zaino I perfer Zymol.
For washing I use Zaino and a boars bristle brush, I would NEVER use a mitt, you will get swirls.
Microfiber can be good or bad, it is a matter of quality.
As for Meguiars they make a good pedestrian line, easy to find and good for the price.

yeah mits will not leave swirls, first off it is wet when you use it when the soft fibers from the mit are wet there is no way it will leave a swirl mark. the only way a mit can scratch the car is dirt getting trapped on the surface. that is why its important to rinse the mit very often. make sure there is no surface dirt. i have never heard of bristle brush for car washing. that does sound harsh. i mean if its got a bunch of hairs sticking straight up then it would probably be alot stiffer than say a mit. all those brissles running across my paint....uh no thanks. i use brushes on my wheels but that is just to clean the insides of the wheel not the surface where there is paint.
