Caliper paint
Caliper paint
Has anyone tried the G2 caliper paint? After seeing the MT acura with the brembos I was kinda sad when I noticed my plain metal calipers. I ordered some of the G2 caliper paint and thought I would give it a try.
I used VHT caliper paint .Works great. Just spray a cleaner on, like fantastic, wipe dry, then spray on.

Anyway, do you need to take off the wheel to paint the caliper or can you fit a brush back there? :p

Everyone seems to think you need special ultra high temp. paint for the calipers. They don't get that hot unless you are running an autocross or on a track.
One alternative is a paint made by Plasticote. It is called Anodizit. It is rated to 500F. It is translucent. When painted over a bare metal like the calipers it give a finish like anodized aluminum. It comes in red, blue and black. I know Pep Boys carries it. It is sold as two parts, but if you are painting over bright metal, you don't need the first part. The first part is just a bright silver paint.
I've had it on my 5AT calipers for 2 months and it looks fine. I just cleaned the calipers well degreased with cleaner and alcohol. Masked them and painted. I like the look of the red as it is not a bright fire engine red, but more subtle.
For example go to the photos in the link in my signature.

I painted my hubs and rear calipers with rust-oleum spray paint enamel gloss black from Homedepot $4.00. they look like the front calipers. Did it about 5 weeks and still looks great specially with my new 18x8.5 Privat Profil in their limited edition gloss black finish.
