TMPS Concerns
TMPS Concerns
I posted this on the tail of someones else thread in the wheel & tire forum with no response so I'd prfer if its left here for a day or so so I can get a response.
I'm about to have winters put on my stock 06 rims that have the TPMS sensors ...
It says care should be taken removing the old tire ... care as in ? .. Should the bead be broken at or opposite the sensor?
What other issues should I inform the tire shop to look out for?
And what about mounting the new ones .. care .. concerns?
Please don't say " Take it to a good shop they will know how to deal with it " because I live in a tiny town and they don't have the volume and exposure to higher end cars with TMPS etc .
I did a search .. no luck ..

Ya I'm using my stock rims .. was more concerned if they had to watch that the tire machine might hit the sensor when removing ... installing the tires. Or is it tucked out of the way enough?
They should know that the 06 TL has the sensors. I would just point out to them about the TPMS. If they look at you funny, find another shop. There shouldn't be any trouble switching out the tires.
If you already have the tires, you could take it to the dealer. They charged me $96 to mount and balance my new Apsec's.

Ok update ... breaking the bead isn't a problem .. what has to be watched is when removing the tire start where the valve stem is so it is pulling the tire tight on the side opposite the sensor.
Same with remounting you should start opposite the stem ... shop did it without issue ..

Thanks, just ordered from them yesterday. About 34 bucks a piece, just ordered 4 of them so I can have either set of rims on my car and maintain TPMS.
