TL will soon be complete.

I was talking to a TL expert at my acura dealer last week and he informed me that the 2008 (I think; maybe 07' or 09') will be AWD w/ the RL engine. If this is old news please disregard. But I have to tell you this sounds more than promising. He said (which many of you probably already know) that the TL is the only FWD car to finish 1st in the 24 hour race. The TL beat out all of it's competition AWD and FWD. Many other cars (not all) had engines literally die before the 24 hour mark...the TL just kept going and apparently the body of the car had much to do with the win. Something about the relationship between body and engine...a design to mechanic ratio...I don't know. But pretty cool stuff.

honostly, dealers don't know Sh*t. One of the dealers admitted to me that car and driver and all the car magazines know stuff before they do, so take everything they say with a grain of salt.

Dealers. Know. Nothing. How many times do we have to say that before it sinks in?

We won't know anything about a MMC for months as Honda is excellent at keeping tight-lipped. We won't know anything about the next model for a long time yet.

yes very true. My dad has a 2000 S2000, several dealers told us that would be the only year of the s2k and it was being discontinued. It is now on its seventh year

this guy was a TL owner who was not a salesperson. He worked at the Acura store at the dealer. He seemed pretty well advised by his own efforts not info from the company down to him. He is actually a member of this forum. We had some laughs discussing threads and tips.

They will have to remake the RL before they do this to the TL if it is true. They would sell no RL's if the TL had AWD and the sasme engine for 15-20k cheaper.

I agree. RL sales are too good to have Acura scrap it. Only way I see this happening is if the RL gets a V8.

I agree Dealers/CarSalesman etc DON'T get much advance information from the manufacturer. I used to work in the industry, and most dealers just make up stuff off the top of their head. Any informed auto consumer would know MUCH MORE than dealer about any particular car.

doesn't an AWD TL with an RL engine = an RL with a TL body?

As stated previously any reports on what the nextgen TL will be can only be speculation at this point. However, I personally believe that a move to AWD is a natural progression considering the competition as well as Honda's recent technological advances. I would also think that they might either push the current TL's engine up around 300 HP or swap it out for the currrent RL's unit. Honda is already working on a V8 which will probably find its way into the RL and Ridgeline pickup. Just my .02 but the lease on my current TL will be up Summer 2008 and I can't wait to see what they end up with.

MOST dealers don't know shit. People only learn as much about a subject as there interest level prods them.

Acura is going to an AWD platform. The MDX. The RL. Now the RDX. I think when the TL is re-designed in 2008 or 2009 this will be proven out. There is a concept car floating around Honda that is red and AWD, that will probably be the next TSX or TL. Taking a look at the grille shows the Acura pentagram.

Thing is what will happen to the RSX and the NSX? I have heard that a TSX coupe will be forthcoming but we shall have to see.
