TL vs s2000

So I have a friend with a stock s2000 and my TL is nearly stock as well.

I decided to try a few runs against him yesterday (on the street of course). I pretty much knew he'd take me off the line, but I figured I'd be able to smoke him on the roll, but boy was I wrong. Even on a 40 & 60 roll, he'd walk me by 3rd/4th.

So I understand his car is 700-800 lbs lighter on curb weight than ours, but I was just wondering if anyone else had ran against an s2000 before and had different results?

AC was off, track control was on, but so was his. The whole power to weight ratio really played a big role!

I beat an AP2 S2K pretty easily from both a dig and a 50 roll, but I've got a 6 spd, fully bolted. A stock 5AT TL really doesn't have much of a chance against either generation S2K.

My roommate has an S2K. To me it seems like the TL would pull ahead at first, but I could be wrong.
he and I will have to stage a race. Although it might not be fair because he can't shift for crap. Lol

Check the sig.

Have a J32A2-02TLS
and an AP2 08 S2K

The S is faster without a doubt-straight line and especially curves

75 shot on the tl will spank the s2k.
75 shot on the tl will also spank a s2k on 75 shot. Their high na compression motor cannot handle the juice well...

Will look for old vid.

I raced an AP1 S2000 w/ exhaust with my Accord 6spd and I came out 1 car length ahead every time.

I have CAI, J-pipe and 3" catback.

That's an ap1 though

I don't really have a problem with stock ap1s, even with my massive 3500lb beast.

Ap2's though, either keep up with me, or pull ahead in 3rd. I mean, if we kept going, I'd eventually catch up, but I don't plan on getting a ticket anytime soon.

Maybe I need to lose some weight. Gained about 15lbs over the summer blah!

The AP2's have more TQ, but surprised with the higher redline the AP1 doesn't still hang it out there. Your results line up with mine on the AP2, faster, but not by a large margin for a street drag. However, I manage 20-30 seconds a lap better with the S on the road course at MSR-C vs the TL.

You must have a factory freak, as I have similar mods on the TL and the S is still a touch faster

^^ I pulled an AP2 w/test pipe and a small girl passenger by ~3 car lengths from a dig to 100. I didn't start pulling until the top of 2nd into 3rd. I'd love to run a modded one.

i raced my friends full bolt on and he burned me pretty badly in my tls but there was no highway run just from a roll and we ended up stuck in traffic so from what i seen the s2k's pull hard modded just depends on if the person knows how to drive there s2000 cause they pretty much are the best honda to race
