what to do with s2000 being a prick?

This is not a race story..but today I went out and did the usual bank errands and this S2000 was driving really fast cutting in and out of a 2 lane street. Do you think my 6spd cls can rape this S2000 if I were to actually DRAG with him?

Let's just say I'm now competent enough to drive my manual tranny and let's assume the other S2000 driver has the same skill as me and both cars are STOCK (his being a 2004 model).

Have any of you ever raped an S2000 while on the freeway or either dragging on city street? I just want to be ready next time I run into S2000 assholes like this particular fucker today.

You will probably lose in a drag race from a stop. You will have a better chance if you are racing at fwy speed or a rolling start.

I've been smoked by S2Ks when I was stock. Don't think I've really encountered any while modded. I'm an auto, too, so I may not be a great reference.

With headers, Intake and 50 degree weather I have pulled on one (barely!). I believe it was a 03.

Real men buy v6 or bigger roadsters. So just make fun of him j/k

i think the s2000 would win if you went head-to-head drag with it

Well seeing that a stock s2000 can do 13.7-13.8 (good driver of course) and not very many CL's can do that modded I would put money on the stook.

And those are pre 04 numbers. The 04 has slightly more power but shorter gearing so they are probably only slightly faster than pre 04's

Let me chime in, since I have an 04 S2000 and an 03 CL Type S (auto) with Comptech headers.

From a launch the S2K wins...RWD > FWD. But the S2K is a really hard car to launch well. So if the S2K drivers screws up, you have a chance.

From a roll I would think it would be a closer race, but as long as the S2K driver has the car in the correct gear, the CL will probably loose.

When I see people driving like jerks like that, I just try to casually get next to another slow car and keep pace...providing a really nice roadblock.

Agreed...I came from an 01 Type S to an 04 S2000 and last weekend I encountered another Type S who kind of cut me off on the highway. I downshifted and got really close to his ass (didn't mean to since I thought he was gunning it too) I had to brake however he then floored it. I was still in 3rd (70mph) and floored it too but was able to pass him with no problems. He could of been stock or not really flooring it so I'm not saying I won a race or anything but it did appear that I was faster.

Me too! And when they try to "pass" using a 3rd lane I floor it and pace the next car ahead of me. They would really have to be a fast car or a super agressive driver to pass the 1st or even 2nd road block. And when they do...it's usually not worth it cuz that's starting a sh*t load of trouble.

wow

I had no idea they are that quick...jesus, 4 banger and no torque, strange how it can rape even a big fucker like my 6spd cls.

I can only imagine if that s2k was supercharged. But I thought you really had to beat the shit outta the s2k in order to make it move fast? I need to go to a local honda dealer and test drive one. I actually considered one before the 6spd cls trade in..but then I heard alot about "beating" the car to get it to move.

I still like my cls. At least it is comfortable and quiet.

Man, there are some crazy people (maniacs?) out there. Do you really want to find out some one's packing? The other less ominous part of the "get even" road games is forgetting about someone that is really "bent" and finding out they followed you home and f*cked-up your car. I had a friend that had a similar encounter and found his all of his windows blown out with a sling shot (So he was told -- large ball bearings were found inside the vehicle).

I've seen the "block" (moving roadblock) and "attack" (territory violation) tactics on the freeway, and it 1) tends to attract a lot of attention (heat) and 2) tends to mess with other people.

Highway jihad and possible consequences...

Surprising what a 4-banger can do -- especially with piston speeds higher than a modern F1 car.

I thought "Mike" (Mega mod here) beat one or more.

IMO, outcome probably depends on the driver.

Hmmm....

Let's see... No matter how much money you put into it.

Perhaps this would make for an interesting Friday topic.

"What would you do to your CLS if you had a million dollars to spend?"

speaking of retarded people

someone that drives a crx around my house likes to dump the clutch spin some wheels and I laugh, as I road past him going opposite directions yesterday I was laughing at some stupid thought and I see him flipping me off in my side mirror. This isn't the first time it has happened when someone gets pissed off at me cause I like to laugh at them, but he is local so maybe he will hurt my car...blow it up so I can get insurance money.

I played with a screaming yellow zonker S2000 about a week ago on the highway. I dropped downed a couple of gears and I managed to stay with him, but traffic kept us from really going at it.

I give the edge to the S2000 with the right driver. Might only be a 4cly., but it's RWD and has the weight advantage.

Since when does an S2K rev to 15K? Last time I checked it was quite a bit below this, with th 04 being even less.

torque would win if it was an uphill race

weight would win if it was a downhill race

so basically if you race on any hill, you got a legit shot

I never said RPM. F1 cars are currently above 19K RPM.

The F1 cars also have a very short stroke, and have a lower "linear" velocity. This was mentioned in a number of articles.

S2K owned me a couple of weeks ago on the Westside Highway in NYC. But he was already doing 80+ when I was only doin 60, but he knew it was on when I got about a good 2 car length behind him, then he was pulling it over 100, then I quit, traffic ahead, it was fun, but I know I will lose! oh well at least we have civics we can beat!!

The Temple of VTEC had this to say in their second viewpoint of the CL-S MT:

"It's also capable of embarassing even an S2000 in the stoplight grand prix (unless the S2000 is driven by somebody who doesn't give a hoot about the health of their clutch nor the risk of points on their driver's license). We even ran this scenario (using a street-sane launch for the S2000) and the CL-S easily stepped out front and was able to hold off the S2000 through 70mph. Yes, the S2000 was gaining, but you can't legally exceed 70mph in too many places, so as far as we were concerned, the CL-S was the winner there."

I can't speak from experience.

Good points. There's a saying "HP sells cars, but torque wins races"
