TL Type S Dyno Plot

hey guys, I decided to put my 2007 TL S on my dyno today..

Being that its a fresh motor, probably not completely broken in, and that its an auto tranny. the numbers arent bad.

Also please note, my dyno is not a generic Dyno Jet. it reads about 10-15% lower than a dynojet, which most people are familar with.

i dont think it would be a 5-10% diff on a dyno jet. dyno dynamics reads somewhat in between a mustang dyno and dyno jet

Even with a 15% margin of error, that would make the reading about 257.6 HP, which is more on par with the base TL. A TLS should not be reading at 258HP. I'd be interested to see what your dyno will read after putting miles on it. In the meantime, how bout some pics??

This is WHP not CHP, base TL would not read 258WHP

WHP=wheel horse power

CHP=crank horse power

the TL makes 258 at the crank... and since there is a loss in power when the power is transfered to the wheels, a dyno will show you wheel horsepower... what matters is the amount of power you are getting to the wheels because that is what moves the car... ideally speaking, an AT will lose about 20% and a MT will lose about 15% power going from crank to the wheels... so those numbers for a TL-S 5AT is about right...

did i miss anything guys???

Look right ot me and yes DD dynos do read lower than Dynojets although Mustang dynos are very close to DD.My evo has been on all three so I have seen the differance.Nice numbers!!By comparison my evo stock dynoed 236 whp (rated 275 CHP) on a dyno jet.

Actually, most stock AUTOMATIC tranny's read anywhere from 205 to 212 WHP in most cases. This TL-S is @ 225 WHP so it's probably pretty close to correct. I ran mine on a Mustang and was comparing it to the other guys who were running dynojet. Turns out after calcs, mine was pretty much inline. After break in he will probably be around 235whp which places him arond 295 at the engine (for the 300 rated HP).
