Hey I'm a newbie on this forum. I just sold my 99 prelude sh and bought an 07 tl type s. I was just looking at the 1/4 mile times and I noticed that the 04 a spec supposedly ran a 1/4 mile in under 14 seconds. Is that correct? The best 1/4 i have found for the 07 type s is low 14's. I'm having a hard time believing that the 270hp which was overrated is pulling a faster 1/4 than the 286hp type s. The only thing i can figure is maybee a better gear ratio and I know the 04 weighed less. So I guess what im asking is which car would win in a straight line? Also isnt the a spec just a stock tl with the exception of suspension a body kit and brakes?

 

type-s would win. A-spec is just a body kit, suspension, wheels (18s), and I think some small interior change like steering wheel or something. Performance wise nothing is changed on the a-spec TL.

 

It's a driver's race on Manual TLs of both vintage.

 

The one 04 you heard about was one member who left us a while back, I believe his motor went because a rod shot through the side of the block. He ran a 13.9 or so. A TL-S is faster than a TL for sure, however it's always up to the driver. Someone who can shift well and keep traction will always be faster than the person who takes a while to shift and likes to skid at any chance possible...

No way. Driven the same, the UA7 will always win.

 

I also have a stock 07 TL-S 5AT and the times I've seen on the net range from 14.4-14.6 (depending on conditions). Seems like the consensus is the auto tranny really limits its potential.
