I know that VIS makes a CF hood for the TL. I think they are the only company. The plexiglass will have to be custom.

So i would have to buy the hood, then take it to another shop where they would have to cut into it and do the plexiglass?..

VIS do a full caron fibre hood for $900.
You'd be better off with Extreme Dimensions' hood if you're going to chop it up.

I would start by thinking of a new idea. But in all seriousness, yes, you would have to buy your own carbon fiber hood, and custom the glass in. Unfortunately there are no companies that make carbon fiber hoods, showcasing the cai by having a plexiglass window.

Hopefully you can outrun the cops then for shooting at someone stealing your intake...lol

I personally am not a fan of the plexiglass in the hood. An intake is such a mundane modification, I'd be surprised if anyone really wants to look at it...

So you want a quiet ride, but you want a CAI? ...

Is this the "effect" your looking for?:

That's it, but it's still $700+ when you factor in the freight cost. I have a guy who can offer it for under $700, but only when he has other items on discount.

But do y'all think it would look good and why do y'all think it would cost so much couldn't I do most of it myself (hinge wise), and why not worth it?

Just order an APC catalog while your at it. And maybe after you can stop at walmart and get those carbon fiber vents to match it

It's not worth it for all the reasons that you mentioned, plus: the paintwork needed, the metal work (not including hinges), and all of the custom fabrication you'd have to put into it.

If you can do all that on your own, then maybe, but unless you're a professional, it's going to look like this: , and it probably won't work too well?

Plexiglass would normally start to lose its conditioning once it comes in contact with temperature of 150 something degrees, if I recall.

And also, if I recall, the engine bay can reach over 100 degree F easily considering the weather and the usage of your vehicle...

Overall, don't even bother...

genius,,..IF you were a responsible "gun owner" you wouldnt make a comment like that and know that you cant shoot someone for stealing your car.

on the other note, why riceify your TL.

Yeah, the Plexi would start to look crappy after a while too, not by yellowing, just scuffs and haze and what not.

I would skip the idea, a lot of $$$ for what?

Nothing I would do, but hey, props for trying to be creative.

A CAI isn't very special, no one's going to steal it... and a CF hood is already pushing it, a window just throws it over the top.
