Back on topic, the few stock TLs I have seen at the track were 5AT and all ran times similar to that of the 2G TL-P. As far as driver error goes, there is little that can go wrong when driving an automatic. (And for the drag racing novices here, RT has no bearing on ET.)

I have driven several models of both the 2G and 3G TL and both launch easily and with little fanfare.

When I drove the TL 5AT, I felt that it had a VERY respectable midrange. It was just the off the line performance that I did not like.
That said, I may need to rent a TL and bring it to the track myself just to see what I can post.
