personally, the ~$2k difference between the TL and TL-S for S' mp3/navi, brembos, a little bigger engine, and paddle shift auto is worth it.

let's not compare rims, the 06 and 07 5-spokes are both equally fugly. i do agree the a-spec add-on from the previous years' are better.

in the end, i'd take the '07 TL-S w/o the A-spec kit.

If I was in the market for a new car now I would choose the TL-S, but most of us here that already own TL's (A-Spec), are saying the extra .3 liters would not make them currently sell their car and upgrade.

I for one would not even think about selling my 06 TL (A-spec suspension & wheels) for a TL-S. I already have the brembo's because I have MT, so I would never think about flushing that money to switch the the TL-S for .3 litters of extra engine. I'll wait to see what the 09 TL brings, hopefully over 300HP, and SH-AWD. If not I'm hoping they bring AWD to the G37 coupe, and I may move to Infiniti.

Again... nobody is dogging the TL-S, it's a sweet ride... just not enough to get most A-Spec owners to upgrade. My opinion

This is a very unfair statement, considering that Type S was not an option.

With A-Spec and all the tuning mods added, here comes the price of a Type S

Technoking:
That's why I have so few posts, even though I've owned Acura since 1998. These things turn into ego battles with swingin dicks more often than not! Too little appreciation and respect for others
IMO, the TL appeals to those that enjoy a comfy ride and high tech. Probably the majority of people. TL-S appeals to those that want more performance, both in hp and handling, with a few nice adds from the factory. A-Spec would appeal to those that want an even more aggressive suspension, and really set themselves apart from others.
They are all good for those that enjoy their particular style and personality

If i could do an even swap my TL for an S, I would take it in a heartbeat...then retro fit it so the interior lights are blue, and the bodykit doesnt look like a TSX - remove fogs, remove chrome parts, put the 06 aspec kit on.

i'm in the market for a TL-S.

i am reading this thread...and noted one thing that I don't believe anyone mentioned.

haivng modded SEVERAL cars in teh past, one thing that is attractive about the Type S is that you get it all out of the box.

the idea of getting a regular TL, then having to buy the a spec stuff, having the dealer install it... what a PITA.

also, for those of you who do not stick STRICTlY to A spec honda/acura stuff and go aftermarket, good luck with the warranty. one thing i learned the hard way is that when you mod a car and ONE thing is not OEM, and the dealer wants to hose you, you are screwed.

S_PAW_1, I definitely understand you. Ego, ego and more ego, mine is better than yours, why? because I said so. Most of my friends drive top notch bmws and benz, I'm just not a fan of German cars, nor in any competition. Most try to make a Bugatti our of a TL Racing FWD TLs? I find it humorous, considering I use to ran 95 Supra (8.9s car), so I definitely didn't buy a TL for its hp/torque.

Beef your TL to you likings, but don't degrade anyone for not padding you on the back for it, just because we don't agree with each other, it doesn't mean we are wrong.

23109VC, that's exactly why I went with 08 Type-S. This is a perfect everyday car that has balls, yet luxurious and satisfies the hunger for a technology geek like me, and all at an excellent price. (I love Lexus 600h, but I think I rather buy three TL-S instead, lol)

Still not remotely sold. But then again, my TL sees about 5k miles a year, so I'm not stuck in it all the time.

cost aside, would a Type-S with full Aspec please everyone?

personally, I would take the Aspec over the Type-S based on looks and opinions only. but then who am I to judge?

Well, usually people will justify their purchases so I'm not surprised at the responses. No one wants to give themselves buyers remorse.

Tl-S buyers will say: 20 more horses (aspec vs tls with CAI's.. TL-S still has 20 more horses), quad exhaust, paddle shifters, "sportier" tail and rear sidemarkers, better seats, some more creature comforts and gadgets, bigger brakes on AT (which costs ~$1800 to install aftermarket), larger engine, better leather, free-er flowing catalytic converters, side mirrors with led's like benz (and yes TSX), more refined suspension = balance of ride quality and sportiness, and no more Pontiac Bonneville rectangular exhaust tips (what my friend commented), and the car is newer = better trade in value...

A-Spec buyers will say: stiffer or sportier suspension, available supercharger , CHEAPER (use the difference for a supercharger and add on some TL-S options), and no ugly Enkei Net style TL-S wheels...

Maybe 90% of the people's responses will be relative to your their purchases. I had the option for either car and I chose the TL-S mainly for trade-in value and it was a decent deal 4 months ago at $36,500 out the door with some haggling. I'm hoping a compressor with tune will come out someday for the TL-S.

Also, to me ALL OEM wheels are ugly. When you compare them to Sevas or Work wheels.. they just dont compare and dont have a nice shiny lip.
