Wow! Oh yeah, you don't see that everyday! Lookin good man! Very impressed. I'm sure you turn more than a few heads with that!

only thing I want to ask is....you plan to change which sidemarkers to yellow? You mean the rear not the front right? If so, I guess you'll be modding the new smoked rear type-S lenses with yellow LEDs?

If you mean you are going to change the front LEDs from amber to yellow, you lost me....is there a difference between yellow and amber? I use them synonmously. (BTW I was meaning to suggest changing your front/rear signals to yellow/amber LEDs to match your sidemarkers)

rockyfeller: I'm only modding the front side markers not the rear side marker in yellow. I like to keep it red on the rear or I will get pull over by the cops here.

Reason why I want to mod the front side marker LED from amber to yellow is because my front turn signl and rear turn signal are yellow. So making it consistent on the sidemarker on the front, I'm going to make it all yellow as well. I have to order the yellow LEDs before I do that so I will show it to you when it is done! =)

I love the way those tails look. I had a 97 prelude SH with aftermarket tails that didn't have reflectors in the rear parking lights. I put the ion yellow bulbs in there and I loved the way it looked. Very similar your your turn signal. I now have an 06 Redondo Red Pearl TL and thought the TL-S tails would look great on it, but yours would look even better. I would definitely consider experimenting and doing it myself if i had an idea of what tools I would need. I wonder how good those tails would look in the traditional chrome as opposed to the black chrome...... That style might look good on a lighter colored car.

oh ok i just noticed you already have the 07 smoked rear sidemarkers Well what's the difference between yellow and amber LEDs? Is amber more orangish? (whenever you get a chance, a side pic would be nice)

I have regular 06 tails with light tint rockblockers.

I personally like the pre-06 tail-lights over the 07+ style but I like the cleared signal look you've done. I'm curious to know what my tails would look like if the signals were cleared but kept tinted with the rockblockers......I think that'll look hot. (I'll try playing with photoshop to see) A subtle smoked look when they are off but when turned on the amber shines right through. A good compliment to the sidemarkers.

I also wonder if anyone with TL-S tails has done a tint job/rockblockers on them yet.

When I was experimenting with the prelude I tried amber and yellow. They were installed in clear altezza style tails so i don't know what affect the smoked lens would have, but the amber was more orange in color where as the yellow look exactly as his do in his pictures. PIAA made the ion yellows for my prelude, i would imagine they make something to use on the TL.

I guess it's all subjective use of definitions.....I use the term "amber" to mean yellow LEDs. The stock front sidemarkers to me are orange LEDs. I can understand the difference between orange and yellow LEDs That's how I misunderstood.

I might consider doing another set of the tail lamp again. I should of smoke out the rear signal since the front headlamp are black out, side markers are smoked. Maybe in a few weeks I might redo it again. I washed my car today and noticed some condensation. I guess I didn't glue it well enough >_<. Bummer....

Actually I did came up the idea before 06WDPTL because I saw the Chinese version tail lamp and wanted to get a hand of that but my friend who works for Honda can't get any exported parts at the TL plant. I called up my friend in Shanghai and said the shipment of the TLs and RLs won't be here in China in late Jan 07 or Feb 07. And the parts won't be in around March 07. My friend tried to source it out for me in China but no luck because they have build any dealership in Shanghai or Beijing. Regardless I will still get it.
ua6spec...
I'm not sure 06WDP is ever going to come through o these... Then he has to deal with the vendor issue.

I think we'd all appreciate the write up on the "what ot takes".. doesn't mean we'll actually do it. I may send mine away due to the difficulty.

nice addition

Someone else was mentioning they thought it was a,little too much contrast for their taste (OBVIOUSLY these are personal opinions) but I disagree, as I think it actually unifies the coloring of the reverse lights.

(I also think Donkey King is the greatest game ever:-)

Well you have to provide me not only the TL-S but your 04-06 tail lamp as well if you are going to do what I did. I am in the process of doing this conversion if there is enough people who are interested.

I am Located in Los Angeles. To do this process it will take me a 1-2 day. Usually I have time on the weekend. So give me a week to do it. So if you give me both set of the tail lamp on Monday, I should get it by Wednesday or Thursday, I will start cutting little by little. Then I have to seal it back and wait a day for that as well. If you want other custom job on the tail lamp then the price will be added onto. But I'm in the process of doing a group deal thingy. More people interested, cheaper it is. Just to let you know the price will not be as cheap as doing the headlamp because the headlamp you just pop it into the oven and bake it. Where as here, I have to cut out 4 tail lamp. Each tail lamp would takes me like 1 hour tops. I have to cut it precisely. Then glue it back. So just to let you all know the pricing won't be as a typical clearing the headlamp.
Good Luck!

Thread grave digger checking in!

The tail lamps on the TL could be one of the 7 wonders of the world. ...i've tinkered with a lot of things on this car and the taillights baffle me more than anything else.

Right now i've got a type S tail on my driver side installed, and i'm contemplating opening up the passenger side one in hopes of making an amber turn signal cover.

...My question is how in the hell do you separate the cover from the black plastic!!??

I think you're probably right. I just studied the tail lamp unit and came to the conclusion that in order to breach the damn thing, a surgical procedure will be the only way. Kind of like the first scene in saw 4 the movie!

Dremel is your best friend. When I was doing this I brought a set of the regular TL tail lamp and the TL-S tail lamp. I hecked the regular TL tail lamp first and F**Ked up the cutting point of the area. Second tail lamp I finally found where was the cutting point. Then on the TL-S tail lamps, did a flawless work on it. Honestly if you were to ask me to clear the headlamp or the tail lamp I rather do the tail lamp. Eventhough it's a bit longer but I'm very hands on when it comes to using a dremel tools.

It's really easy Eric. I've already completely and thoroughly hacked up a set of '04 tail lights. Just like ua6spec, the first one wasn't pretty, but the second one was next to perfect (I spent waaaaay too much time analyzing the first one to determine the cutting points before doing the second one). Whenever I get around to hacking up the TL-S lights, they will be done perfectly. I'm even doing mine in a way that you don't see a hack line when you open the trunk. It's all in the details.

Uh, it's kind of hard to explain without pics. I used a dremel with a standard cutting wheel to do 95% of the tail light as close to the edge as possible. Then I used my drill with a 3" cutting disk to hit two spots on the back. As you can see, pretty worthless advice without pics. If Eric (or anybody else local) wants a hand with it, I'll show them how to do it the way I did it and we can take pics of the process.
