Exclamation TL-S Auto Start

no, this is not even a mod...it's there and some of you might not even know it. I was surprised when i found out.

the TL-S starts regardless of how you turn the key on it...even the shortest touch in the start position is enough, the car will keep cranking itself automatically until it starts, you don't have to hold the key in the start position until it actually starts.

one of my friends has a 07 TL-S and when i saw how he started it i looked at him like , then i went and tried it in my 06 6MT and it just did a little click...so it dont work on 04-06 TLs i'm guessing but it works with 07+ TL-Ss and mabe even 07 TL-Ps.

Yep... They call it one touch starting.

I got used to it and now when I go to start my wife's car I have to remind myself to hold the key until it starts..

I don't think it works on manual transmissions...?

I have an '07 TL-S, with a 6 speed stick, and I read about this before, but it doesn't work on my car.

Anyone else with a stick shift get this to work?

Haha, I do the same at work.
I work at Volkswagen and I sometimes forget I'm not in the TL-S so I have to hold the key.

no harm caused since it actually doesn't let you do anything... try it once the car is started... nothing happens so it has a safety/dummy feature imbedded

it's like a push start button, except it's not a button it's a turning switch

so the 6mts don't have that huh? that's odd since it makes no sence except that it needs the clutch override.

it would be wierd if the system malfunctions, or lets say u run out of gas....it would prolly crank for about 4-5 seconds and give up if it don't start by then

I think its pretty clear that Acura is behind the game in some areas such as cooled seats, auto start...heck they only came out with the "auto" feature on the TL in their 07 models while others like lexus had it since 2000

Acura has to get their act together and be ahead of the technology game

As previously mentioned it's only a feature on automatic transmission equipped TLs.

I would prefer not to have it on my manual, anyway, due to safety.

Hey have seat Air-conditioning seats in the RL.
You'd think that way until you see the technology in the RL!

Granted the RL has it...all I'm saying is "in general" they're behind the game...the MDX is probably the most up to par / competitive and yet though it was just released as a redesigned as an 07 model , they still don't add some of those nice to have features/options such as push button start and even having corner illuminating fog lamps, and don't have the swivel xenons if I'm correct? etc.

Technology wise Lexus ES > TL
GS is probably even with the RL
RX is behind the MDX, but it's also a 5 year old model etc.

It'd just be nice to have Acura's be more innovative etc.

Or what about the moving projectors. But still, I think the things the TL has now is probably enough. The push start and etc. are just little for fun stuff that makes the car all fancy.

You guys also have to think.. the TL is also a 4 year old car. If the new TLs dont have this stuff then theres a problem with Acura.

When the TLs first came out im pretty sure they were equipped with everything and more than the rest in that model class (I think its a Entry level luxury sedan class??)

iT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR THE NEW REMAKE OF THE tL. The mdx is a new model and it does not have the push start botton. I think honda itself is trailing, nissan and toyota have bluetooth and pushstart in their cars, but honda has yet to put in any of their cars . Honda needs to stop playib=ng around

They did ok in late 03, early 04 with the 3G TL. Everyone else stepped up their game afterwards. Let's wait and see what the 4G has in store tech wise.
