TL-S 6MT Owners in NC
I don't qualify for your survey from two perspectives; I don't have a Type-S 6MT, however, I have a 2006 TL 6MT, and I don't live in NC, yet...
Regarding that last comment:
Regarding that last comment:
- My current company's success with work from home during COVID-19 has led them to officially close the office I used to work from here in New Hampshire permanently; all three of the individuals I've reported to while working for this company have been located in north-central North Carolina, and my current manager has hinted a few times now he'd like my wife and I to relocate there.
- I'm also in low-level discussions for a new job in another metro area, also in North Carolina, where I'd be asked to move.

Cool! NC is a pretty decent place to live, idk if you've ever been or not. Depending on what company, a lot of the major corporations are in RTP (where I'm at) and it's a fairly nice area. I know there's a couple people here that have base 6MT's; just curious for the TL-S because I highly doubt I'm the only 6MT in NC lol
As for living in a "nice" area, I'm one of those perennial "glass is half-full" kind of individuals, I figure I can find a nice area to live, regardless of where in the world I happen to be working, be that New Hamster, North Carolina, Resume Speed, Iowa, or hell, even Outer East Mongolia.

I'm pretty sure I've seen numerous posts from other Type-S 6MT owners in NC over the years. And yes, I've spent a lot of time in NC since I got hired on by my current company in 2013; last year alone I flew down an even dozen times, and this year, pre-COVID-19, I have made two visits for meetings and such.

'06 Accord Sedan V6 6MT. I've got an LSD and TL wheels. so I kinda qualify lol. I'm also hoping to move up to the triangle within the next 12 months.
So yeah, I'm neither a 2007-2008 TL-S 6MT owner, nor do I live in NC -- almost counts, right?

You're the first 6MT TL-S owner I've come across so far lol
Funny, I was actually on Hillsborough Street last night giving a relative a ride in the car and just looking at Downtown a bit. But I don't have a cover for my plate as I don't want to get pulled over lol I'm surprised too, Raleigh police are pretty strict about stupid stuff.
Been wanting them for years but they're few and far between. They used to be given as a gift for donating to an AcuraZine charity drive for children around Christmas, but, to my knowledge, hasn't taken place in the past five, or so, years. They randomly pop up online then disappear. I don't really know how though.

That's funny, mine is FLD. I always say it stands for "flood." Pro tip for NC. If you pay your property tax on your old car and then transfer the plate to the new car, your property tax is still good for a year at the old cars rate when you paid the tax. Can save a decent amount of money. I know someone that had the tags expiring in August, paid the registration on the old car in August, transferred the plate in August and didn't have to pay property tax on the new car until August of the next year.

I don't have any off-hand for paint places; going to need one for myself at some point. There's one place called Custom Tint that does paint protection/wraps and tint; not sure if they do any paint correction though. They're in Apex.
Yeah me too. No sense in letting her sit for 2.5 years cause no one can drive a 6MT. It's also not Kenetic blue, it's nighthawk black. Any good upholstery shops up there in Raleigh? Need some work done on my Lexus daily driver
Morning guys, my 08 CBP TYPE-S is an auto but I am in Raleigh also and usually have a manual car in the garage too, just picked up the TL-S for fun, ordered all new replacement leather interior, pcv/s to fix the gas cap light, new mirror housing to rebuild hopefully and a coverlay dash kit. Parts should start arriving today or tomorrow, it should be a pretty big transformation from current state. Any get togethers or meetups in the area for acuras or TLs specifically? I've been to most of the C&Cs but not seen anything more specific.
Well, not in North Carolina, yet anyway (I'm still being approached for a job in Greensboro and another in Charlotte), and no, I still do not have a Type-S, but I do have a TL 6MT. Keep us posted on your restoration job.
Does anyone know a shop in the area that would be the GM manual tranny fluid in? My friends breaker bar couldn't get the bolt off. I am afraid most places will be scared of putting GM fluid in a Honda. I already bought the fluid, just need to replace it.
My local shop didn't blink when I asked them to put in ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified, in spite of the fact the shop owner was a former Acura lead technician. Just give a few local shops a call and ask.
I am using 1 quart of Wal-Mart conventional 10w40 and 1.6 quarts of Wal-Mart conventional 10w30 oil in my J-series transmission right now. I'm about to leave this morning and drive a rebuilt CL-S 6MT transmission to DC and pick up 3 other J-series manual transmissions to rebuild.
Beautiful day today. Hope NC State beats Duke (and of course that Clemson beats GT).

If you can't get the 3/8" drive fill plug off, you can use a 27mm socket (or most adjustable wrenches) to remove the reverse switch, and pour your fluid in through there. A simple trip to a Lowe's to buy a 27mm socket and clear vinyl hose that will fit over the tip of your funnel should be everything that you need.
