Question TL-S or 08 CTS?

What do you guys think of the 08 CTS vs the current TL/TL-S? A lot of people seem to be getting hot about the CTS, I don't know what all the buzz is about. This guy seems to think its going to challenge imports specifically... What do you guys think would you trade your TL/TL-S in for a new CTS?

Good point but still I'm sure there are some people on here that will really take a liking to the CTS... Personally I got addicted Acura because of the Legends... the TL didn't really appeal to me till the 3rd gen. Just interested to hear what people think of the competition. Hopefully everyone here still wants to keep their Acura's lol.

No offense to the OP (more to the writer/blogger), but "duh!".

The CTS is positioned in the Enty Level or "near" luxury market by price point. Further, the CTS is positioned as a "Sport" Sedan.

In that segment (Entry Level Luxury Sport Sedan) what is the there to compete against EXCEPT import/foreign manufacturers? Since it's inception the CTS has been compared to the same cars as the TL; 3-Series, MB C-Class, Audi A4/A6, IS Series, G35, etc, etc.

The real question (for any car in the segment) always seems to be "How does it compare to the BMW 3xx?". I think the blogger is *trying* to say that the new CTS hopes to compare better than the previous model.

What the CTS really has to overcome is the long developed impression that the "imports" are better driving machines and that Cadillac's are "Old folks, Chevy+, luxo-boats on wheels". They are doing a good job breaking out of that stereotype, but it takes a LONG time to change market-place impressions.

The Sept '07 Motor Trend just said the '08 CTS is the best Cadillac ever made. The '03 CTS got rave reviews when it first came out, but now they say it has a poorly shaped dashboard and a stark interior. Car mags tend to focus on the 'flavor of the day'...unless you happen to be BMW.

I don't see the CTS as a direct competitor to the TL or TL-S as a comparable equipped one will probably come in at about $45K. At least that is where a loaded one with Navi falls today...

Yeah thats why I say CTS-V cause old man or not that ride is insane...If you look up threads by SeattleCL-S you'll see what he has done to his since he bought it a little over a year ago..CTS just doesnt do it for me, its like a 325 you get the body of the total package you just dont get the complete package.

Couldn't agree more! CTS-V = C7 Vette (ALMOST) in sheep's clothing. The ultimate stealthmobile. I've been fortunate enough to have driven a CTS-V on a closed track...and to take it to the limit. All I can say is !

On the other hand...I've had several Caddies ('03 STS, '04 CTS)...Nice cars, comfy, cool features...but basically crappy build quality. Ever check resale on a Caddy?

Truthfully, I am not a fan of the '08 CTS body style changes. Too boxy for me. But to each his own...and with the huge rebates and low interest rates, they are much more appealing than ever. But you see what I bought this past April...that should tell you what I think of the new CTS.

I have to admit that I drool over the V. I wish Acura had something like that. Maybe in 2009... Still waiting for that V8 Legend that is rumored every single year lol.

To each his own indeed.

But I went to look at cadillacs after my TSX passed away and i have never seen such a terribly finished interior since Kia. (No offense to Kia) I should not have to compare those two but sadly it's all i can really say. The drive itself isn't too bad, i feel theyre might be a slight delay for the throttle response. I feel like Cadillacs look like a good idea on paper... but when they build it.... they flip a coin on whether or not they should actually produce and market it.

As far as the TL.... From Interior to exterior, my opinion is the car is flawless. Especially the TL type S and it is the best bang for your buck. But liek everyone above me said.... Tl is by far a better car haha.

But, You should go to both dealers and take a look at them yourself and not base your opinion off the opinions of others. But i feel once you compare the two your opinion will be the same as ours. Good luck and let us know your response.

This bad boy will probably get locked soon, but until then...

I read the above link the other day...it sounded good, but most of these types of articles do. I like the redesign...much more aggressive looking compared to the blah-mobile it currently is. The V is a blah-mobile, too...looks-wise...not that you'll be looking at it for long! The next V is rumored to have 500 hp .

That said, I'd only buy the V.

i wouldn't trade in my current (05) TL for an 08 CTS. It is however, on paper at least and the pics I've seen better than its sloppy lookin predecessor.

Wow and American Piece of shit.. lol ""CADILLAC" If it doesnt have a V after the CTS or STS what a waste of money. My friend has it and just cause it looked hot in Bad Boys 2 thats the only reason this car has sold in the past. The regular is tacky looking and honestly that perticular model cant even compare to the TL in general. Id take my old 06 legacy Gt over the CTS.

OMG... CTS is one FUGLY car why would u even consider that car... what were they thinking when they come up with the exterior design... regardless of how good the inside is (if it's any good), if it's wrapped in a POS it's a piece of shit...

One will spend a good part of its life getting fixed at the dealership while the other won't.

That alone should answer your question.

I've fallen for the domestic's claim of "improved quality" on several occasions and got suckered everytime.

This thread belongs in Car Talk. Much better to do comparisons over there...

KSuchdeve, you nailed it. This is why these types of threads belong in Off Topic...
