TL - Recommended?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm thinking about selling my CL and getting either an 04 or 05 TL or a G35. Would you guys recommend the TL?

If you are comparing the 04-05 G35 to the TL... Get the TL. For sure.

That simple? No contest? Does the TL have any problems like my CL, the transmission I mean.

I say G35. That was what I had (2004) b4 the TL(2006), and aside from the technology in the TL, I still prefer the G35 (better ride with a nicer design and rwd performance). Coming from a CL, either car would be a nice upgrade. The TLs have very little tranny problems. It's just a matter of preference. Most people here will say TL, anyway.

I haven't had any problem with my transmission. My dad has a G35 and he has had alot of problems with it. His HID lights have been stolen about 4 times (they just pop off the bumper if pushed up with a crobar) costing over $1,000 each time. He also has a problem with the life of his brakes. I've driven both and I like the interior of the TL much better, it feels roomier IMO. Inifiniti may have addressed these problems with the refresh of the 05. I believe they moved the HID ballast farther back into the engine area for 05 to make it harder to steal.

The TL has rattles here and there but I haven't had any big problems.

Really depends on your interest. If you want a RWD performance sedan get the G. If you want a FWD sedan that handles pretty good in its current setup, get the TL. Subjectively speaking, I think the TL outclasses the G looks wise, interior and out. Both cars have their issues. The TL rattles, the G has got sucky brakes.
Sounds like a fun decision.

^^ I did hear bout the HIDs being stolen a lot... Infiniti recognizes that the brakes they put on the pre-05 models wear very easily and usually replace and upgrade them (they did that for me free of charge). The G35's interior is only comporable to the TL if you get an '05 and up model. I always felt that the G was the roomier of the two... my back seat passengers commented that the TL isn't as roomy, but oh well. G35's trunk is largest in class. Its a matter of preference, i.e. - if you would add a wing spoiler/body kit - G35... if you like technology - TL... performance and acceleration - G35... Going from a G to a TL, I was both happy and disappointed @ the same time. The TL is so techno-savvy it's insane, but it can't perform nearly as well as the G. One of the 1st things i noticed was the turning radius... making U-Turns in a TL (coming from a G) is a PITA!! Feel free to ask if you have any lingering questions as I'm always here to help!

I'm not a huge nissan fan, but I do think the G35's are nice cars. Having said that, I think the TL's interior and exterior blow the G out of the water. The RWD of the G is a nice touch though.....I'd wait till '09 when the TL goes RWD

I've heard Acrua will go RW with all their cars.....but right now it's just rumor. I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

Depends on which model.. I have an 03 G35 Coupe and am in love with it. It's sex on wheels when you mod it. The attention I get in that compared to my newly purchased 05 TL A-Spec is incredible. If you want a more luxurious interior and better gas mileage go with the TL, if you love the throaty exhaust and a quicker response when you accelerate get the G!

oh god, i think the majority will probably recommend TL since the vast majority here are TL enthusiasts... I think you need some neutral unbiased view from a 3rd party...

but yeah, TL + 1

Could not of said it better myself. I would hope that the people here would be pro TL.

This is exactly why this needs to be posted in Car Talk. Plenty of neutral biased there. Plus we do not need any more comparison threads thank you..
