TL Prices Really This High Still???

I was looking at the payoff amount on my new 08 TL w/ nav I got end of 2008 (It's just under $20k), and wondered how much they are going for now..

I do a search on AutoTrader and find that a USED 08 TL w/ nav with comparable or more mileage is going for around $30k from dealers in the area. No nav around $28k. TL-S for around $32k. Those are pretty much the prices I got mine at...

Assuming I can get similar prices in a private sale I could almost make money on my car..

The value on the TL is crazy... and of course I could NEVER sell my car since I love it but it does beg the question... It would also save me a lot of money to drive something more cost effective...

You seemed to center in on the higher end of the spectrum as on AutoTrader and also the Acura CPO site, vehicles can be had for much less. '08 TL's as low as $23, TL w/Nav $26, and TLS $27 depending on the dealer and mileage, and most of these also come with the Acura 7/100 warranty.

One of the worst investments is a vehicle, as the price will drop like a rock, some more than others, but it will drop, naturally excluding specialty/antique vehicles.

I wonder if a huge celebrity drove the TL, the resale would be higher.

The car has still held its value well tho, compared to other cars at least.

4 months ago my TL-S was 27k with 30k miles. It is a 07 as well. They had 08s for 29-30k there as well. So it sounds about right.

Funny thing I looked into purchasing one in the US as most cars are cheaper (picked up my new bike in the US and saved about 4G's) and there is no pretty much no difference in price from what I would pay here, go figure!

Turbonut is right about the prices dropping like a rock over the years of ownership. Prices for late model TL's are high because of the classic "supply vs. demand".

The values for our late model TL's will drop.......

Remember the 2003 Acura TL-S ? Very nice car back then. MRSP was around $33,000. Trade in value today for a 75,000 mile car is in the range of $7,000-$8,000.

But all the transmission problems hurt the value on those cars as well. I think the 3rd gens will hold their value much better.

A lot of it depends on the area of the county you live in.

I live in Cincinnati, a 2008 TL-S here is still about $30k, unless it has high miles on it. About 4-6 months ago many dealers were asking around $32k for them, sometimes higher. I paid $33k for mine brand new, so the prices of used models were a bit ridicilous.

I think the fact the 4G is ugly as sin has propped up the resale value on the 07-08 TL's quite a bit.
