TL Envy

How many of you TL guys have ever been to another enthuisiasts website to challenge them on the merits of their car?

It seems like there are alot of people on this forum who own other cars, Honda's included, that show up here to bag on the TL. I personally have never been to the Honda Accord or G35 site.

Things that make you go.... HMMMM.

You want it... I got it.

I ever saw some guys talking something good about 04TL in G sites in November, then those G guys asked Mod to kick them out. Then, they register again, later ppl blocked those two's IP... (sorry, I don't remember the site name, but someone ever forwarded the link to here in December.)

Those two guys didn't say anything harsh, but ...

I think our Mod offers the better environment for everyone to debate their cars.

I guess this all depends on who runs the sites.

G sites may talk more performance-oriental stuff or how to kill others. (I guess??)

For example, one of our member, Qaxxx, met with one of the founder of Freshalloy.com, that Infiniti guy just kept talking how good their cars are and invited him to join the G fairs... I mean our Administrators may not do so... or not waste time to do the similar stuff, IMO. (Maybe I'm wrong... one of our administrator has a great garage in his house... maybe he will talk a lot?)

However, ppl in G sites have the good sides too, they like to reach out more... sometimes, we're just like shamed ppl living in this isolated site... my 0.02.

this site is more mature even than other tl sites. but it was that way when I was a benz owner to among sites. seems the younger set lives down to their immature stereotype.

I was over at saabcentral awhile back when I was considering getting another Saab to replace my 2001 Saab SE Vert and some of those forum members were asking a Mod to block me when I asked for thoughts on, "Saab 9-3 SS vs. Acura TL".

Most saab users were fine and offered up reasonable and well thought out responses; however, a handful were immature and bashed the TL without even knowing anything about it.

You'll have those types in every forum though....just catch me on one of my bad days. :wow:

For some reason, people think that for their car to be "good" all other cars have to be "bad". It's kind of immature. Any "mine is better than yours" discussions are stupid as everyone has their own criteria and one persons "great" is another persons "average”.

I owned an MDX and a TL-S so I still read the boards. While I didn't purchase Acura's again for various reasons unique to me, I certainly feel they have a lot of qualities that make them good choices in their classes.

I'll only post when my past experiences may help someone with a problem or in their decision making process. When a brand/model discussion comes up I'll post their too if it's a car I own/owned because I can obviously compare the two brands based on my Acura experience.

I will say this, of all the brands; the Acura forums seem to develop a cult like state where anything negative is deemed subversive - even if a fellow owner posts it. The number of posts that imply something must be wrong with the driver because the car's obviously perfect are higher than any other car forum I visit. During the CL/TL transmission debacle, whether or not there was a major issue was debated right up until the NHTSA stepped in and Acura offered extended warranties. While of questionable value, some of the debates do make for great entertainment.

I have been on everything from VWVortex to MBZ sites and most topics involving the TL are really positive...I acutally think that they have seemed way more objective than I would have expected

I really haven't noticed any more maturity here than say, Freshallloy. Seems about the same to me.

But I've seen some Bimmer sites where it seemed like half the members were spoiled teenage kids whose parents had bought them the Bimmer.

As a G owner coming from G35driver and FreshAlloy, I think this site is quality. Most conversation seems to be intelligent and level-headed.
Altimas.net was jsut the opposite. Flame-on!

gee, must be a maturity thing.

I always try to be level headed and respectful. The g35 is a fine car. So is the 330. so is the TL.

I've also never felt the need for "mine is better than yours"

As a Maxima owner and 'enthusiast', I agree.

I first started frequenting this site in response to the dreaded 'TLS vs 3.5L Maxima' debates. But have enjoyed the fact that the maturity level here is higher than that of Maxima.org, Acura-cl.com and significantly higher than @ Altimas.net (which itself pretty much ranks with on the maturity scale).

That said, a number of us 5G Maxima guys have already stated that we'd definitely rather have the new TL over the new Maxima. (No brainer there!!) Nuttin but love for the new TL, here.

Peace.

I would love to have a new TL in the garage next to my 03 Max but I'm not giving it up neither is my wife giving up her 350Z. If the TL had been out when we sold the TLS to get the 350 we would have a WDP to park next to my Glacier Pearl Max instead of the 350.
