TL Auto-lock

Does it bother any of you guys that the TL doesnt have an autolock feature? Most of the luxury sedans I know of have an autolock feature. I constantly find myself worrying about whether or not I locked the door.

Is there a way to add an autolock feature to the TL? How much would it be? Simple or hard install?

I'm pretty sure the TL has an autolock. Mine autolocks after about 30 seconds with the keys out of the ignition and the doors shut.

Are you saying if I take my key out of the ignition, open my door to exit and close my door behind, the car will lock itself after 30 seconds? I don't think so.....

well, if you love your car enough to care, you wouldn't have problem worrying if you've locked your car or not. Just press the lock button once you leave your car.

There is a way of programming the doors to lock and unlock when driving the car through the MID (multi information display). Is that what you mean?

I might be dumb enough to forget to lock the door, but Im not dumb enough to lock my keys inside, never have, never will. Even if I do I have another set. And no the car does not autolock, like Lights said. I know about the 30sec lock.

The problem is I'm always worrying about whether or not I locked the door because the place where I work is full of homeless people. Maybe I'm a little compulsive, plus my memory for shit like that is pretty bad, I totally forget. Sometimes I would walk like two blocks and would have to turn back because I wasnt sure whether or not I locked it.

I really dont want an aftermarket alarm, I was just wondering if there is a simple modification to the car that would make it autolock. Obviously it can autolock with the 30 sec thing, so is there a way? Or is aftermarket alarm the only way?

Unfortunately if you want auto lock then you must get an after market alarm.

Haha, that's funny you mention that, because a girl at work, who has NEVER locked her keys in her car, has done it 3 times in the past 3 weeks, haha.

What's even stranger is that she has an '04 Honda Accord, which has this autolock feature. Once you turn off the ignition and exit the vehicle, the doors will autolock after a certain time. When she first told me, I figured it was the feature we have where if you press unlock but don't open the door, it will re-lock after so long, but nope. I'm just a little surprised that an Accord has this, but they didn't carry over all features to the TL...

That only works if you unlock the car with the fob and don't open a door within 30/60/90 seconds, it will auto-relock

Also, if the keys are in the ignition, you can't lock the door with the fob. You have to use a key in the door.

I have a two way alarm/remote start. I don't use the stock fob. When I exit the car, I lock the doors with the after market fob. It illustrates on the fob if the doors are locked. Even if I go out of range, it still displays the "lock" icon. If I don't remember if I locked my doors, I just check my fob.

ok ok auto lock is useless...

but wat do you do if you lock your keys in the trunk, about a month ago I was in the Emergency Room Ambulance Bay (cuz I work in a hospital) long story short I was blocking in 2 ambulances, and I go into my trunk to pull out my jacket.... well I put the keyfob down on the trunk mat... put my jacket on close the trunk... and voila... I have no access to my car...

WHAT THEN???
well now I always have my valet key on my house keys...
