Turn off auto lock function

(My AZ searching has yielded no answers. Sorry if I missed it)

Ok. I found the ONE thing I HATE about our cars. I get home, I park the car in my garage, I shut the door, and walk away (I do NOT lock it). I go back to my car minutes later and the effin' thing is locked!

I played with the MID, thinking it was a setting in there...nope. Can't find out how to turn OFF that auto-lock feature.

That thing is gonna get me in big trouble one day when I leave my keys on my front seat and I'm pumping my gas in 20 degree weather (auto-lock my keys in my car).

it should only lock on its own if you unlock it and dont open a door within a certain time which can be adjusted on the mid

there is something with your car if you are getting out and its locking by itself, are you pressing the unlock button on the remote after you get out? because then it would autolock itself after 30 seconds or so

Im pretty sure you can change it. I changed my setting for my interior lights to stay on longer, and also when I put the car in park it unlocks all the doors.

Go into the "keyless memory setting" in the MID. You can access many features here. Hope this helps!~

Oops. I see now. So when I turn off the car and get out, then walk away, the car will NOT LOCK.

However, if the car is locked and I remotely UNLOCK it, but Don't open the door, it will lock again. <----- this has been my problem. Problem solved. Thanks again everybody.

Also, if your keys are left in the car, it will not lock.

This is not true. On several occasions is has locked with the keys in the ignition. This is a stupid design since they can detect a key in the ignition. If you leave the keys in the ignition for a parking attendant DON'T close the doors. My son is a mechanic and he rolls down a window when he works on a car with the keys in the ignition.

This is by design. Sister's 02 civic with the factory alarm has done the same since we bought it new. They want to lock the doors back if you dont open them when unlocked remotely. But the TL's system is a LOT more sophisticated than the civic's. You wont trigger the alarm unlocking by key in the TL (which triggers the alarm in the Civic).

Say you're walking away from the car with the keys in your pocket and somehow it triggers an unlock. You wont need to worry unless some dude runs within the 30 or so seconds to open your door.

I believe you can adjust the timeout in the MID to when it re-locks.

sorry OP didnt read the entire thread....am posting in a hurry....

The car will not autolock itself all the time....only in certain scenarios....

If you come from a drive, step out, and leave....the car will NOT lock itself....
If you come from a drive, step out, and leave....unlock the door from the remote and do not open the door, the car WILL lock itself....

You can also change some preferences in the MID....you can change the following:
1> While unlocking unlock all doors or driver door
2> Lock when you shift from park or <5 mph or <20mph (if am not mistaken)
3> Unlock when you shift to park or couple other options i dont remember...

hope this helps...

really weird dude, i was locked out of my car once while my car's engine was running with the key in the ignition. I was like wth happened why did it locked on me. Lucky for me the trunk was opened so i managed to get into the car thru my trunk. Until this day i don't trust that automatic lock system. Just play it safe and leave a window cracked like i do from now on lol. If i would've had my trunk closed i would've had to walk 30 blocks down to my house to get my other car keys. Pheww thank god.

In the 2004 TL with the 6MT, #2 is when you reach 10 mph and #3 is when you turn off the car. (Obviously the 6MT does not have "park" and so the settings are different from the AT cars.) When I drive my wife's RSX I always forget that the doors won't unlock automatically when I turn off the car!

at work, I park in a secure area. When I go jogging at lunch, I sometimes would leave the keys in the cupholder but I'd leave the windows down a little. I came back and it was locked. Lucky I left the windows down. Never figured that out. It happened a few times and I'm well versed in the car relocking itself if I unlock it and don't touch the door.

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has had this car for many years and still can't figure out the locks. It feels as if the "rules" have changed on me.

Every time I wash my car, the keys get locked inside. I think the re-lock feature is only broken if the driver's door is opened. I unlock the car, and open the passenger's side door and close it so that it doesn't re-lock. But, it always does.

So last night, I turned off all the auto lock features and it still locks the doors when drive off. But now it doesn't unlock them.

Locking and unlocking are separate functions through the MID.

I have mine set to lock upon placing the 5AT in gear, but do not use auto-unlocking.
