Which TL 2006 or 2007?
I have been searching day and night for a TL and besides still being completely undecided on the color combination the changes through the years are not completely clear either. Is there a thread that actually points out these differences? I really love some of the obvious changes from 06-07 with the side mirrors and the taillights but what else was changed?? I can find an 06 with decently low miles for around 15K but all the 07's are low 20's which is something I can afford but a bit more then I would like to pay. I am definitely a modder I have done many headlight retros and taillight projects so I'm comfortable modding or swapping these parts which Im sure could be done for less then the 5K more I would be paying for a 2007. What other features does the 2007 have that I would be missing out on?
with the 07 tl, you'll get a different steering wheel, AUX port for ur ipod or iphone, most of the recalls and STBs are done, and thats about it. If you're saving alot of money on the 06 then get the 06, if not, go for 07.
Ya i have seen the wiki and it looks like quite a few upgrades and changes from the 2006 I think I would be very disappointed in myself if I cheeped out and settled for a 2006
The 2007 Acura TL features a slightly revised exterior as well as a revised interior with a new steering wheel, redesigned gauges, and footwell lighting, in addition to new interior and exterior colors. The 2007 TL (non Type-S) received suspension changes to improve ride comfort. Also new for the 2007 model year were LED turn signal repeaters on the side mirrors and fog lamps in the bumper. Prior to 2007, the fog lamps were integrated into the headlight housing; Daytime Running Lights now occupy that space (Canadian models have had DRLs there rather than fog lamps since 2004). TL with navigation models sport a new rear view camera with image displayed on the navigation screen as well as XM NavTraffic. In addition to the new standard auxiliary audio jack, the sound system is now MP3/WMA compatible and offers Dolby Pro Logic II decoding and speed-sensitive volume compensation. The manual transmission option had been dropped from the base TL due largely to extremely low sales (roughly 1 out of 40 TLs sold across America were equipped with a manual gearbox).
2007-2008 Acura TL Type-S
The most notable revision is the return of the Type-S edition of the TL. The Acura TL Type-S will receive the Acura RL's 3.5-liter V6 engine tuned for 286 horsepower (213 kW) and 256 lb·ft (347 N·m). of torque with either a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. Exterior differences include quad exhaust pipes, restyled rear lamps and front fascia, lip spoiler, wider side sills, Brembo brakes, dark silver 10-spoke wheels, a "black chrome" grille rather than the standard glossy grille, and exclusive Type-S badging, plus an exclusive new color option, Kinetic Blue Pearl. The interior has Type-S badging on the steering wheel and headrests, more highly bolstered front seats, two-tone seats (only with the Ebony/Silver interior), metal racing pedals, carbon fiber trim, and red interior lighting (as opposed to blue in the base TL). Touch screen navigation is standard and the suspension has been firmed up. The only options are the aforementioned transmission and high performance summer tires (Bridgestone Potenzas) rather than the standard all-season tires (Michelin Pilot MXM4s).

Besides the looks (I like the 04-06 but the newer ones are growing on me) there's the i-pod adaptor and reverse camera.
However, the earlier TLs both manual and auto have a firmer suspension so that's something to think about. If you're going to mod it, don't worry about it. If you're going to keep it stock you'll have slightly better handling.
I also believe the later models were slightly heavier but I would have to check that again.

Honestly if you are going to get an 07 dont even bother with with the Base, just get the Type-S. If you are going to get an 07 base might as well get an 06 and save the few extra grand. Just my two cents.
Well theres a point where I have to say no type S is another 4-5 grand more typically then the base. Maybe if I wait a year the 2007 type S will be around 20K. I think by the looks of it the upgrades from 06- 07 base are better then 07- 07 type S to me. I guess i'm not really concerned with the extra power the type S gives I do like the cosmetic differences but would rather have that extra MPG I drive 110 miles a day so gas mileage is important to me. I should get a more fuel efficient car but I just love the TL so much and it will still be an improvement over the 22-23 mpg I get in my Acura Legend now.
I'm in the same boat as you but I now have everything sorted out after a few months of research and looking around. I've decided to go with an 07 in NBP or CGP, now I just got to find one. Good luck.
if you want a 6MT and cannot afford the TL-S then go with 04-06 (no manual in 07-08 base).. 6MT > AT .. its better for resale, more fun to drive, reliable, plus look at the numerous threads of ppl that want to do a auto - manual conversion or sell their autos...

I was just reading this, is it true the torque steer fix was only for the manual transmission TLs?
Torque steer (the tendency for some front wheel drive cars to pull to the left or right during hard acceleration, especially in a turn) can be accentuated in high-performance front wheel drive cars when they are equipped with a limited slip differential. For 2006, Acura has taken steps to reduce torque steer in TLs equipped with a manual transmission.
