Question Tinting (in DC)

Anyone use a good window tinting place around DC? Specifically in Northern Virginia. What percent of tinting would be in the sunroof? (For comparison sake). And a really stupid question..:banghead:...when you talk about 30% vs 50% is that the amount of tint, or light. (So, would 30% be darker or lighter than 50%?). Any tinting tips would be helpful...

30% percent is darker than 50%. I spoke to California Tint in Great Falls and they qouted me $220. I used 2 places in MD in the past, one out of business and one I would not recommend . I am getting the TL done @ HP Racing (on jjay's referral ) in Glenn Burnie next Saturday.

good luck

Cost?? I am also looking to get a tint. The person that did my previous car has left the company so I am back to square #1. I am willing to travel to DC or MD if they do a good job. Thanks for the info...

Starting @ 175 but they offer addons. Insurance in case you get an inspection ticket for having too dark of tint. They will remove the film and put it back on after you meet the inspection requirement. They are also looking into the scratch issue/moleskin fix and that may be an extra charge.

Which film did LA Tint use for that price? Brand? Metallic or non-metallic? %?

Looks like LA Tint has Formula One as tint brand - really good stuff. I did 35% Millenium (metallic) which does not appear too dark... at least in Texas. I think mine was $259~. Sorry, pics are too large to upload.

Sorry. I think they now call it the "Premier" line (not Milenium).

at hpracing. im thinking of having them put on my comtech springs also..i got my 98 vr6 jetta done by them when it was new and they are still there,, thats a very good thing for a tint shop..they have also expanded..if you hav nav just type in address and will take you to there doorstep...ps i found a place called wheel worx that will fix scratchs and small dents that will "f" your rims up, they said they could not gaurantee the color match for my gunmetal rims, but they nailed it. when i walked in all i could smell was paint or clearcoat...the little dog sitting on the office chair had to be high as hell, nobody had resperators on...anybody who lives in our area knows potholes were pure hell, so needless to say they were very busy...ohh yeah its in millersville about 5min from hp racing...later gotta go

Had any problems with scratches? Did they use the "moleskin" liner?
