Tint in VA

Tint in VA is

50% in front and 35% in back

I don't want any trouble with the cops.

You guys think it's worth it to get this tint job done for $199?

$199 seems pretty good from what I have been hearing around this area... does it come with a warranty?

199...sounds kinda questionable...arent you the same guy that said you got your TL with Nav for 32500?

What does that mean? I got my TL with NAV for $32000. I also got my tints, with moleskin, for $160.

I don't think there is anything wrong with what he is saying.

$199 for tint is a great price. But you want to confirm whether the "tint" has a lifetime warranty on color. I paid $280 before for a tint job with quality lifetime color warranty film. California Tint in Great Falls does a great job. I've heard LA Tint is also a good place.

(1) Who makes the tint? (Formula 1, Madico, 3M, Huper Optik, Llumar, SolarGard etc....)

(2) What type of tint are you talking about (Ceramic, Metallic, etc...)

(3) Is there a lifetime warranty included.

These are all things that factor into the price of tint.

P.S. the 50/35 combo looks way too mismatched. Take it from me, I've had it before.

So you live in VA and also got your car for 32500 with Nav...out the door price? Meaning tax, title, and tags and all other cost included.

I would do 35% all around. You shouldn't get pulled over for that. Plus you're driving a TL which really isn't a car that sticks out like a sore thumb.

This has been my great debate.... Is it ok to get 35% all around in VA? what are the odds you will actually get pulled for tint? Do they make like a 40 or 45%? Would that be better?

I have owned several cars with 35%. The only times I got pulled over for tint were when I had my 98 GTi VR6 for having 5% all around and my '02 WRX Wagon when I had 5% all around. I have never had a problem with cops having 35% all around. Hell I've been stopped at lights directly next to VA State Police and they never even looked twice. If I were gonna get a ticket it would have been from them because that's one thing that they enforce. I honestly don't think you will have a problem with 35%.

I'll say this. There was a time when California Tint was off Seminary Rd. They had a tinter named Gus that was deemed one of the best in NoVA. He started up a business and Theo learned from him as did a guy named Rick. Theo opened freeway tint and does great work. Rick was tinting for The Tint Shoppe in Woodbridge and now tints out of a place called Motion Motorcars in Woodbridge/Dumfies off of Rt. 1. Rick is the one that tinted my TL and my girls Corrolla. They are excellent tinters and I highly recommend both of them.

Have 25%

I have 25% on the side and back and have not had a problem yet. I had them done when I lived in MD but loved to Leesburg in Nov. I have been told by many who have seen my car to stay out of Leesburg as the town cops will stop me.

vj167, I used a company in Glenn Burnie called HP racing. I got the recommedation from someone on this board and they did a great job. They have done 3 other of my freind's cars since with great sucess.

California Tint is still off of Seminary Rd. I stopped by the place b/c Radley recommends it. The one guy there seems to know what he's doing. However I went to CIC performance in Gambrills (not sure) and I got mine for $175. Pretty good place and willing to help with problems. Lifetime warrenty too.

BTW - I've never gotten pulled over for 35% tint. No one even looks. So no worries. Just stick with non-reflective and you'll be safe.

Maybe they moved back or I guess they could have 2 spots now. They had moved from just off Seminary to Tyson's corner just in front of a Merchants Tire. If they went back that place was a shit hole. Well at least it was in '96/'97.

That's pretty interesting...then how come when like 30 people on this forum needed your help to buy their new tl you werent able to give them the bill of sale that shows what you paid for the car...and might i add that you are the one who offered it, but could never produce...your story gets more shady everyday.

If you are in MoCo or don't mind the drive check out Eazy Auto Care -- $180 lifetime warranty. Not 100% on makes of tints.

Oh yeah and come to the meet in my sig -- all of you!

I had 50 in the front 35 in the back...and I got heckled so many times on I95 and I64 that now there's no tint on the front and 50 in the back. it looks good though. But its easier to get away with if it if you have light interior. My interior is ebony so my tint seems darker than it really is. The price is good

Ain't that the truth! The so-called OTD price was below invoice and I guess he didn't have to pay taxes. I bought my car from the same dealership he used. They all laughed when they heard this "price" he paid OTD. Later forums revealed he ended paying like 39K with the A-Spec package. Not quite the same as 32500 out the door is it?
