Tint Question?

So I am looking to get my windows tinted.

The guy that usually tints my cars says some Honda/Acura do not have felt strips on window seals and it will eventually scratch the tint.

Any 3G owners have sratched tint?

common problem with TL's and tinted windows.

get moleskin OR felt installed when you get your tint.

your installer will know what to do.

this can be a $5 do it yourselfer if you feel motivated to look into it. Just buy strips of felt, open your car door (as in unscrew and pull it apart) , and drape it on the blades inside.

^this, Mine look awful, with the scratched streaks on mainly both front window, but they were dealer installed ones.

plan to get them redone also and pay the extra to get them done, since I have a thing with bad luck. Leaving it to the professionals.

Dont mean to hijack your thread, but believe its relevant. Should I ask for tint quality? brands?

I dont mind paying $200 for tint w/ moleskin installed.

Im doing a Solar Guard Supreme 28 (meters 20) or Supreme 15 w/ Supreme 40 Windsheild if I can get my Neurologist to give me a "doctors excuse"

Bearcat94,

I go to a Neurologist for migraines. Light and Smell are my main triggers.

Well then you should be able to get a legitimate "pass" for darker than normal tint or windsheild tint.

It was just funny the way you put it out there. Every now and then you'll see someone say, "I'll just have my lawyer ....", or, "I'll just have my accountant ....", or, "I'll just have my mechanic .... ". Not so often is it, "I'll just have my Neurologist ....".

I do not have moleskin/felt installed either, time will tell I suppose. I'm one of those weird ones that never puts the windows down and I usually ask the dealer not to as well. This is due to a combination of disliking wind blowing in my face and the fact that I hate cleaning the inside of the glass so they stay up, wife gets in the car I lock them. lol

I just got my windows tinted this past Saturday. I'm guessing the Tint installer did not install felt. He did a great job but I don't want it to scratch. I havnt even rolled the windows down yet. So I should get felt/Moleskin and do that before I roll them down?

! get felt/mole skin installed asap.

when i got my tint done it looked good and perfect for the first 3 months. than one day while rolling my front passenger / driver window down i heard a nasty scrape sound. every now and than i still get it.

it's left vertical lines on my tint. it's not bad, but it's there. get it fixed, do it right.

I typically dont either. But there are circumstances where it will get you: drive through ATM's, tolls, collecting tickets for parking garages, etc.

Well, my neurologist said the cheapest thing to do is get prescription sunglasses. I do not agree. My script changes every exam and would need new lenses evey 2 years.

It looks like I will be getting the Supreme 28 tint.

lol dude hook it up!! My mom is a doctor too but she won't give me a damm thing since she already knows the deal. I'm in the area and if i have to drive down to LI i would gladly do it! *wishinggggg* Light does bother me a lot while driving in very bright days or on incoming traffic but i don't have insurance for a visit lol. So i drive with my shades! but i want darker tints

I didn't get moleskin when I did mine. I never roll the windows down. Haven't heard any scraping at all. I tend to clean my factory felt whenever I wash the car. Hopefully that prevents any crazy scratches.

Yes please, tell me what you use for cleaning your felts...I don't think you remove your door panel every time you wash your car.

I just got my '06 TL's windows tinted by a very reputable installer. He immediately told me about the missing felt and included installation of it in my job.

Where is this installer located? I hope it's near NYC.
