Tint Poll

Well, I've found two places in the area I can get my tint done at. One place will do Formula One Pinnacle (ceramic) all-around with 30% on the front two windows, and 15% on the back 3 windows. The other place will do 3M Color-Stable all-around with 20% on all windows. The lady at the F1 shop will NOT tint illegally so I cannot get her to put the 15% on the front windows as well, even though this is what I REALLY want . If I decide to go there I will ask her again one last time when I drop it off, but am highly doubtful she will agree. What do you guys think I should get? Just looking for opinions. Also -- any ideas on how I could convince this lady to do the 15% on the front windows will be entertained as well

Mods: I know there is already other tint threads, but I wanted to post a poll, so I hope this is OK.

Also -- if anyone has any pics of these 2 tints, I'd appreciate it if you'd post em here so I can check em out...

She will tint the car with whatever you want if you sign a waiver stating that if you get pulled over and are fined, she is not responsible. If she still wont do it, you can order pre-cut tint kits off the net and do it yourself. It is rather easy to do.

She seemed a bit on the bitchy side both times I mentioned it to her over the phone. I guess I could try this approach, but I still don't think she'll do it.

As far as ordering pre-cut tint kits, I don't think I'd be able to find a pre-cut F1 Pinnacle tint kit -- do you? And isn't the ceramic tint harder to install (meaning I should not try it as I've never done anything like it before in my life??) haha.

Any reason why you are choosing to go with ceramic over normal black tint? I think the normal stuff is just fine, looks great and a fraction of the cost. You can also do it yourself!

This would be IDEAL, but all 3 Formula One dealers near me (within a 2 hour driving distance) will NOT tint illegally on the front 2 windows .

Definitely be interested in seeing the pics, though.

I just don't want to chance having to peel off tint a few years down the road due to color-fading, turning purple, etc. I understand it's a lifetime warranty, but I risk losing my rear window defroster everytime tint has to be taken off that back window. And the Ceramic tint should block the heat a lot more than the 3M Color-Stable I would think, no?

i personally don't like having two different shades for front & rear. 15% rear and 30% will look strange, especially if you don't get your windshield tinted. i have 35% all around except for windshield, and there's already quite a bit of difference between front & rear.

i'd stick with the same shade all around. i can see why you are concerned with heat rejection (seeing how you live in FL), but there won't be a noticeable difference between the two film.

I had to drive an hour south to get my windows done the way I wanted. As long as I was willing to pay cash the guy from Formula One of Venice was happy to do my windows at 15% all around. Send me a PM with your email and I will send you some pics.

This is pinnacle series tint 15% all around. Take into consideration i had my front visor shade on so it makes it like i have 2% tint on the front WINDSHIELD.

I disagree my friend. I promise you that you will definitely see a noticeable difference with the inside temperature in FL if you get the ceramic over the normal film. Well worth the price difference in my opinion.

I do however agree with you on getting the same % tint all around. It's a must.

Called Formula One of Venice today and made an appt. Thanks for the tip It's a 2 hour drive from my house, but well worth the cost savings compared to the dealer in Clearwater, and they'll do the 15% on the front windows. $240 cash compared to $385 at the Clearwater dealer!! Can you believe that? I'll send ya a PM w/ my email for some pics.

iTISIC,
Thanks for doing the leg work. Once I get my car back I will probably go there too. I want 15% ceramic all the way around also. And then there is that $145 savings....which can be used better on other mods! Its a no brainer!

I once asked that woman at the Clearwater shop if they carried ceramic tint.....she said no. Huh???? She obviously doesn't have a clue as to what goes on there.

Anytime.. I called last night and left a msg at the Clearwater shop to cancel my appt. and said on the msg I found it a lot cheaper elsewhere AND they would tint what I wanted. She called back this morning and left a msg on my voicemail to call her back. I'm not even going to bother. Not worth dealing with them. She was a bitch from the get-go.
