This is the tint job I talked about

so here's a picture of what i was talking about with my tints. the back piece of glass, they cut around the rubber instead of sliding it behind the rubber; hence, the strip of glass that was not tinted

i've seen it done on some cars where the tint extends under the rubber, so you don't see that strip. i went to another tinter who said he could slip it under the rubber, but because it's so tight against the glass, it'll be hard to clean. since it's an older car, it'll probably have dust on the glass that can't be cleaned off, so there's a good chance that the tint will bubble up right in the top right corner.

what're you experiences? did your tint go behind the rubber, and did it start bubbling after a while?

A good tinter will do these rear quarter windows properly--extending the tint all the way to the edge of the window.

Most places will cut around the tailights as it saves them from liability and it is typically illegal to tint certain lights on the car....unless it came from the factory like that.... as they have already got their lights certified by the DOT...

A good tint shop will remove the 3rd brake light cover and make their cut so it is not visible from inside the car.

yeah one guy said he could slip the tint all the way to the back, but it might start to bubble at the top edge...you guys have problems with bubbling tint?

tinted for 2 yrs...no bubbles. my tint installer is a perfectionist. i've seen plenty of other TLs with the rear quarter glass with the "strip".

I've got mine done all the way, my tinter said it took him about 5 tries to get it good but it's in their and it looks great. He said the seals are just so tight his little tiny tool could barely get in the space

yeah it's hard finding real perfectionists locally, and i really need a referral.

My"S"exyUA7 referred me to someone nearby who did his car, and did a good job of it. i called her and she says she can do it too, but i found out that the existing tint from the used car dealership is Llumar ATC35 (not great.....i should have gotten it tinted myself instead of letting them do it before delivery)...but i'm not sure if she uses the same tint

do the tints look different from different companies? i imagine there's some difference. and does a tinter who uses one tint know how to apply products form other manufacturers? forgive my ignorance about how tinting works...

another guy who does use llumar is the one that said he can try his best, but there's a 50% chance there will be bubbling in the top corner...

A quality tinter will get it behind the rubber gasket. Don't let any tinter tell you it can't be done because it has been proven otherwise many times in this forum.

No! a good tinter will slide it right behind the assembly and there will be no visible change on the glass

Reading this thread has bummed me out about a tint I was very happy with and spent a pretty penny on.

I presume this would be grounds for going back to the shop to have it redone?
