Timing belt service deal...

I am coming up on 90k miles and am looking at the timing belt service.

My local honda dealer is running a special right now for the full service at $699. This includes all belts, water pump, pulley, etc.... Is this a good deal? they also provide a rental car while they are doing it.

just wondering if this is a good price? from what I have seen others post quotes of, it seems like it is.

IMO, yes it's a good price. From all the posts I've read, the average Acura dealer is going to charge $1100 minimum, often closer to $1500. Anything less than those figures is money that stays in your pocket.

You may need a valve adjustment.

I'm just about to turn 104K so my time will come this summer I guess. I should probably check around the Honda dealers in the DFW area. Will ask my long time Indy mechanic also......

they said that they are not sure how long that deal will go on. they hope till end of month but that parts have gone up this month (not sure if thats true or not) and they may end it sooner than that.

I am just at 91k, but may get it while its a good price.

Not trying to hijack this thread ... Will Honda dealers work on Acura TLs since they're similar to Accords? In general, do they charge significantly less to work on your car than an Acura dealer? Just curious if anyone has done this on a regular basis. This thread got me thinking ...

Besides a good price, having it done at a Honda dealer is good in that they are using Honda parts. Their techs will probably have seen a good number of TLs, meaning there is less risk of "mistakes" or other unintended drama.

this particular dealer has seen many Acura's as the closest Acura dealer is 35 miles from here, and I live in a somewhat big city.

Yeah my dealer said they seen many Acura's as well. Hey cjj2d did you have to get your tensioner replaced as well, I called them and they said it's not included.

Im only at 73k but when I was at the dealer out of curiosity I asked how much it costs and he quoted me $1600. So 699 seams pretty good to me. Since you are at 90k and you would go for it you might want to ask the dealer if you would have to go back at 105 to get the computer reset or anything like that

This is an AMAZING deal! Our TL only has 60k, hope this deal is around in a couple of years when its time.

Reddell Honda is just a couple exits down from my house. Let me know how your experience goes

I see that we have some TN people in here! I may need to check this out since the last time I changed my oil at the dealer, one of the service rep told me it is almost time to get the timing belt done.

Joe Marina in Tulsa will. I called them to get a quote for the timing belt change several months ago. They have a 10% coupon here http://valuenews.com/savings/savings....php?advID=394
Price quote was 914.69 then reduce that by 10% with the coupon.

Most Hondas will work on an Acura because its the same basic engine. V6 Accord, TLs, RLs all use the same Honda timing belt service kits.

I received two flyers in the mail yesterday from the store where I bought both of my 3G TL's advertising a "Timing Belt Service Special" for $399.95. This is just a timing belt replacement and inspection of the "water pump, accessory belts, and cooling system hoses".

I don't go back to car stores for service unless absolutely necesary.

well, all in all I am happy with the service from Reddell.

In and out today with no issues. Changed the tension pulley on the timing belt as well today, and was out the door for a little over $800.
