thump sound

Sometimes when I back out my car and then put it in drive I hear a thump sound after just initally moving a few seconds in the driveway.
The only time I recall hearing this is in the morning or first time use in the day. Has anyone else experienced this also?

I believe that's due to ABS check.

Shouldn't this have been going on since we picked our cars up? I only just started hearing that noise last week. If it's normal then "whew"...

I picked my car up on New Years Eve and I just noticed it last week as well. I could have sworn that this was mentioned in another thread. I thought it was you Norse. No?

IMO, this is something normal, but your dealer won't tell you what it is until you figure it out by yourself.

This thump/flap sound seems to happen in your first time to reach 10 mph. It only happens once when the engine is started after the long rest.

Lots of things you might feel weird, but they're actually NORMAL in your car. For example, the click sound when steping on your brake... the brake noise... twist view in your front windshield...

I had the same noise on my 2000 Accord and the Service manager at my earlier dealership told me that this was the normal self check for the ABS system for all Hondas.

Have had my "thump" since i bought it in Oct. The dealer can't do anything about it because everytime i take it down there, I can't duplicate it.....LOL. It sucks so bad. Maybe with this thread someone will answer the question. I hope it is something like ABS

Don't you see what replies said above...

Plus, if you have your car sitting in your dealer's parking lot, you'll be able to replicate this flap sound.

I can feel it and hear it on the driver side wheel, I keep checking on the street to see if I hit something...

it's hard to get used to that noise.

I never had it (or heard it) in my other 2 TLs (99 - 00) or my 97 Accord. hmmm

It's not happening in all Honda/Acura vehicles.

My 94Legend doesn't have it.

This forum is great. I have noticed the same thing. Especially when I first get going. It usually happens between 5-10mph and only after it sits for a while..

Yep me too thought I was hearing things. Didn't happen on my 02 TL-S or my 04 Accord.

Yep, I've experienced the same thing. It is always so quick I wasn't sure what it was. I kept thinking my tire had tapped the interior wheel well lining as my driveway has a large curve. I of course realize that shouldn't happen but didn't know what to think. Thanks for the thread.
