Thoughts on tracking a tl?
Has anyone tracked their TL and how were the results? There is an advanced drivers school called The Drivers Edge in my area and I was thinking about signing up for one of their two day events. The upcoming event will take place at Texas World Speedway (I think that's what its called) in crossley tx. I know the tl is not a track car, but i have nothing else to take and i would like to learn in the course.

I have an 05 TL with intake an exhaust and 19in Konig Next wheels. I have tracked my car and autocrossed it many times. The car is great on the roadcourse. The things I would change about the car is probably go to a more aggressive brake pad setup and maybe some new rotors. The brakes do tend to fade after some hard laps. The car does have a little bit of body roll but other then that I love tracking my TL. If you are interested in tracking your car you should do it because ever since my first time I am addicted to going to track days and drivers eds.

Go for it, it has great performance for a luxury FWD car, this video speaks for itself:

For comparison, on the same day, the drift king tested 2 other cars, the lap times were:
Shelby GT500 (500hp) - 1:29
Lexus LS460(380hp) - 1:38

I don't know .... IMHO, I think the TL-S would be a great "now and then" track car.
It'll never be a sports car, but with a few common mods, easily a car thats fun at the track but still works as a daily driver.
If I wanted to track a TL-S (or TL MT) I'd look at:
- Intake
- Light Weight Wheels
- Progress RSB
- Slotted Rotors
- Springs/Shocks or Coil Overs with a moderate drop
- TBS & Thermo Gaskets
Of course you could do more, but some or all of those would make a track-day or Auto-X a lot of fun.

I autocross mine all the time and also take it to the drags occasionally. Running a supercharged TL here. Runs with EVOs and Subies all day with the help of V-710's for tires to counteract the push issue in the corner.
