For those using LEDs for License Plate bulbs..

Which kind of bulbs exactly are you guys using? I want it to have the white affect just like on the new Lexus GS. I'm using this one type but it's really really dim. Pics would help a lot. Thanks in advance.

haha the new GS is exactly what moved me to change mine as well. Just installed mine today.
Got mine from Tec_toys 9led hyper whites. They are not as bright or as white as the gs's imo but the slight purplish(?) color they give out is very cool! i'm satisfied and i've received praises already.

$13 including shipping. Install was... kind of hard. There are instructions if you do a search but no pictures... it would be so much easier with pictures..

I tried doing it from the outside, but couldnt get it past the frame thing... so i had to work from the inside and flip out the clip things and then remove the black bar thing and then unscrew the one screw and then push the clip on one side to loosen it...

see how hard it is with just words -_-

IMO it was easy and the cost from superbrightleds.com was 12.40 with shipping.

If you are going to install the leds in the LPlate, go ahead and buy you a pair of bulbs for the back up lights. (PIAA H.I.D. W2 12v 18w) All I did was take off the truck lining and replace the bulbs, it took me maybe 15 mins total, hardest part is marking sure you get to all of the clips holding the lining in.

A bit off topic but do the PIAA backup lights make a big difference in the brightness and are you worried about melting the fixtures ?

If those are 18W parts. How many Watts are the stock bulbs ?

The ones I'm using are super whites. The same ones flvol77 suggested to use. They aren't THAT blue in person.

Does anyone know which of the bulbs, out of all the ones mentioned above, match the new GS lights the closest??. I really dont want them that blue - makes it ricey. I want them bright white just like the new GS. Those look Awesome!

I went with the amber LED's from Tec_Toyz and I'm very satisfied with them. They have a clean amber shine to them other then the normal amber 168 bulbs you buy from Pep Boys or something.

Not sure if I want to blame Acurazine or Chrome. My browser jumped to this old thread below the actual one I wanted to reply to.

In your preferences you can disable "Related Threads" and "Infinite Scroll"....both of those I found crazy annoying when they did the last forum upgrade.
