It's so ridiculous that people worry about racking up miles on their cars. Unless you are worrying about warranty or lease miles... it really makes no sense... what are you saving your miles for??? for the next person that will drive your car??? you think you will retain resale value???? Not a chance...
I was recently involved in an accident with my older car Honda Accord 1996 EX 'aka Cassandra' 215k miles on her... gosh bless her soul, she was so faithful to me... anyway Insurance company's autosource valuation states average miles driven for my vehicle are 115k miles.. so I was over by 100k miles.. and they only deducted $1500 from the value of the car... that pretty much means $150 dollars per 10k miles...
so please do your self a favor and just drive!

Man, what prompted this rant?
Some people have legitimate reasons for limiting miles on their cars. Like you said warrantly, lease, also if you are one of those who sells your car via private sale, mileage does matter. Those who are looking to buy will most definitely check kbb.com and will go by what they find there and those values are based on mileage and condition of the car. And in this era of high gas prices, some are limiting how much they drive.

Who here mentioned about saving mileage... I don't recall seeing any thread, so why are you so mad about? People do different things for different reasons, and who are you to judge. Be nice!

He's not mad about anything, he's not preaching, and he's not ranting and raving.
The way I understand parkkuen's post, he loves to drive his TL so much that he can't understand how anyone with a TL couldn't feel the same way and is only encouraging them to drive more by giving them some facts about depreciation and resale value. His statement about warranty or lease miles is a valid exception, but otherwise, drive your car and enjoy it is the message I get here.

Like...o-k? Geez? Talk about someone calling the kettle - well, you know! Personally, I thought it was good info to have. Some do "save their milage" in thinking that they are saving resale value or something (not the case here). Was good to know that 10K miles cost $150 - thanks for the good info man! And neva mind the hater! ok...now basically both you and I (TheMainEvEnt) have posted here- and not adding to absolutely anything. Get my point? And what is the Avatar all about>? Attention, attention, attention....? Your probably a fat chick! (lol) just kidding!

I definately look at mileage when I buy---but when I own, I look at it like this:
I'm payin a hefty car payment for this car. I'd better get my use and enjoyment out of it. Only way to get that is to drive it.
I don't think I'll regret it later.

How does this sentence;
not contractict this sentence.
Sure sounds like putting on extra miles costs money to me.
P.S. emphasis added by me

On another note; I rather hope that TheMainEvEnt does look like that and don't mind giving her the attention.
Life is short, enjoy it while you can.

Not a Blowhole
I cannot understand why people do all sorts of things - but that is their concern, and I do not post about it. This thread is hardly a rant, but neither is it particularly insightful. Does anyone disagree that one should drive any car as one sees fit, but "recovery" of mileage is quite low in a car with the production #'s of the TL.
However, a very low mileage used car sold as a private sale will most assuredly fetch a better price than one that hits "typical" mileage, esp with sports cars/exotics.
I drive my TL a lot - my S2000 only has 2300 miles in 2 years, and never sees rain or snow. The TL is just a car - a very nice one - but just a car. My NSX had only 500 miles on it when I sold it, and I got what I paid for it. That is hard to beat. And I can state from having run a Corvette restoration/sales brokering business since 1982, that low miles are paramount in a vintage Vette, assuming the proper documentation exists to validate it. Mileage, rarity of model, condition, and of options make the bulk of used-car price determinants. That is why a 1967 L-88 can bring nearly $100k.
One could just as validly post "Why do people post about other people's driving habits?".
It's all good.

Actually if you look at what a 96 Accords is worth, the car lost about half it's value. Either way, it's a lot of money. Still, it's not a thought that ever really crosses my mind.
