Those with Hawk HPS pads

how much do they squeak? I just got my new rb brake setup installed, and mine squeak when I press it lightly, under 30 mph. Just wanted to know if this is normal.

Did you bed them in?

when i pull my car out in the morning they squeak a little bit when i'm backing out. after driving around they don't squeak anymore. every now and then driving around i think they squeak a little but it's not enough to be annoying.

i think the conclusion is that everyone who has these pads say they squeak a little. if they are squeaking all the time then i would guess something is wrong.

Yeah, mine squeak at low speed braking as well. Even after following the bed in process, they still squeak. I'm not sure how long it'll take for them to stop squeaking.

Is the squeak as bad as the stock bremobs?

Yes they were bedded in. I guess you can say the squeak is as loud as the stock brembo's, but it only comes when a certain brake pressure level is applied, whereas the stock brembo's would squeak constantly.

Damn that is the only thing that makes me not want to get them. I thought the squeak was just after the initial install, but apparently that isn't the case with the 3rd gen brakes.

How is the stopping compared to stock?

My Brembos never squeaked from the first day I had gotten it until that one inside pad that was completely gone when it was time to change out the pads. These are the first pads I ever had that had squeaked.

Yeah, it's not horribly bad, but I thought it wasn't normal since I've read other people didn't have squeaking problems.

The stopping power is great. Compared to stock, it feels like you need a bit more pressure to get them started, but once they bite, they bite!

And as far as track/canyon driving use, I haven't had a chance to heat these up enough to test out their longevity.

The correct bedding in process for the Hawk HPS pads calls for a series of increasing pedal effort slow downs from 35 to 20 mph then from 45-20 several times in a row.
YOU MUST then drive 20 minutes at freeway speed with no stops in order to slowly cool everything back down!
Instructions included with Hawk HPS pads on the box
That properly heats the pads and establishes a transfer layer of pad material to rotors which will put an end to noises.

Plus make sure you used brake grease on the holding pin/bolts for the caliper, and the pad backing plate where it contacts the caliper, and of course always clean the rotors with spray brake clean before install
The RB rotors come with a double cross-hatch cut on the surface to remove the protective coating that remains on everything else.
This makes them ready for use right away on race vehicles and may cause a little noise as they have extra friction due to that. The surface does smooth a bit with useage too.
Try that and then report back

Thanks, we did the correct brake in procedure per instructions.

Hopefully the double-cross hatch will smoothen out and reduce the noise a bit.

I have Hawk Ceramic pads. My brakes squeal louder than buses and trucks. I am so pissed. It seems to happen more on the front right side of the car. I had Acura service take a look at it a second time (they did the install) and they couldn't do anything to rectify it.

I bedded them in when they were installed. I noticed that it happens when the brakes heat up. I'm going to give Hawk a call about these. It's totally unacceptable and embarrasing.

The noise seems to be gone now. It only comes back if I heat up my brakes pretty badly, but other than that for regular driving it's MOSTLY gone.

I wonder if those with noise problems are the ones who did not resurface or replace the rotors first. Semi-metallic friction material REQUIRES a rotor resurface or replacement if you do not want them to make noise, in addition to proper bedding and lubrication.

Many times its the driver not using the brakes hard enough
You installed serious high performance pads and rotors- use them as such or expect them to whine about it
If you have more than 500-1000 miles and still showing crosshatch- you are not getting these brakes bedded in- its not a one time process- you really have to get the RB rotors smokin hot to make the pads bed

Yep, you really need to bust some balls and get these things smoking a couple times before they start to brake in. No noise from them at all, except rarely on cold mornings..but even then my stock brembo's would be noisier.

Cool

And is the dust that much less? Are you still thinking this is "the pad" for the TL?
