Thomas Acura in Covina, CA

Anyone have any experience dealing with Thomas Acura in Covina? I heard their service department is no good, so was wondering if anyone can attest to that.

I just bought my TL from them a week ago, and found one of their sales managers to be somewhat of a hard-ass - he wouldn't budge on throwing in the all-season floor mats into the deal. However, since they quoted me the lowest price and had the color combo I wanted (AM/Ebony), I went for it. I probably could've pushed harder to work it into the deal, but I just got tired and gave up.

Which So Cal dealership's service department would you all recommend? I heard Downey Acura was pretty good.

How much did you pay for it before tax & license? Who's your salesman?

Pasadena Acura has been good to me but they are moving to Glendale and leaving the old dealership as a multi-brand import repair shop after the New Year.

I had a nightmare with Thomas Acura. Just search for my threads on how they damaged my car and not even tell me, and how they kept my car for almost a month. I wouldn't recommend their service department.

I now go to Downey Acura. Chris, the Assistant Service Manager is the one that helps me there.

I almost got mine there but they wanted to lowball be on my 2G 03 tradin, so I walked. They had 9 Anthricite Ebony,, but I wanted Quartz.

I have used Tustin Acura for service for years, but that may be a little too far south for you.

What was the price quote you got from Thomas, and who was your salesperson? Was it for a Navi? What was included in the price (splash guards, wheel locks, trunk tray, etc.)?

I've had a good experience with Thomas Acura so far. I've taken my car there for two services so far and they were prompt and courteous.

Btw, I bought my TL from them too and couldn't get them to throw in the mats either. I attribute that to the fact that the TL's were selling as fast as they could get them.

Just curious...how much did you pay for your 05 TL's at Thomas Acura, and what was included in the deal? Who did you work with in your car purchase?

My experience was that trying to get them to throw in anything extra (even something as little as a key chain) was like pulling teeth...

Thomas Acura is okay I guess

Everytime I take my car in for fixes rattles, window regulators, leather replacement etc....
I always get it back with one less part, they tend to forget to put back the plastic covers on certain things. So I keep having to go back to get it fixed, I am going one last time to Thomas Acura then I am hitting up Montclair or Valencia I have heard good things about those two.

I bought an 04TL and worked with Cheryl/Laura. They wouldn't throw in anything. I tried the same thing -- "Come on, I'm spending 35K, can't you throw in $100?" Nope, the cars were/are? selling for basically retail -- no incentive.

kyeck - Sounds like you paid sticker price for your 04 TL? Did they "force" you to take the dealer-installed protection package (splash guards and wheel locks)? If you paid sticker, it they should at least throw in these two things plus maybe the trunk tray and all-season floor mats as well. Depends on their mood I guess...

I think they'd be willing to come down a little if you have competing price quotes from another dealership, and threaten to go somewhere else if they don't work with you. I tried that and it helped with the price a little, but not much.

I think it was 37200 out the door car+tax+lic+tradein, but my wife played hardball for me (I would have taken it)

I do not remember the salesman, it was an older asian man, but he did very little (took me around the lot looking for a car, then organized the appraisal of my 03 TL-S) then a younger man worked the numbers. I liked their no-nonsense one shot offer, it was low. I had to haggle for an hour at Tustin, but I got them to go 500 lower than Thomas.

I got 20K for my 03 TL-S.

It had the basics - Navi (splash guards, wheel locks...)

What price did you get at Tustin, before tax and license? Did it include the trunk tray in addition to the splash guards and wheel locks?

I also worked with an older Asian man (his name is Johnny), and he didn't do much to fight for me with the sales manager either...the only reason I went with Thomas was that they were the only dealer that I found who had an Anthracite/Ebony available, which I understand was a very hot combo and sold like hot cakes.

I also go to Metro Acura in Montclair.

I don't like the service at Thomas Acura in Covina.

Ooops, either I clicked on the wrong item, or the wrong quote was picked up

Yes, Johnny sounds familiar.

I do not know about current hot combo, it was last years hot combo though. They had 7 or 8 when I went there. The Ant/Qtz they would have had to trade with Riverside. And, the one I got at Tustin had just been traded for Ant/Ebony with Santa Monica. Thomas would have gone lower for an in-stock car.

I went to Thomas last night for a new car owner clinic they were offering, and the sales manager told me that they don't have any more Anthracite/Ebony w/ Navi in stock. I did see a AM/Camel in the lot. Looks like between Thanksgiving and now they were all sold and they're currently low on inventory.

I believe there were a few AM/Quartz available when I went there the day before Thanksgiving. You might have been able to get them to go just below $34K when they were in stock, if you haggle with them a bit.

For the $34,493 price at Tustin, what did they throw in for you?

When I was researching dealers.

Thomas - I did get a warning regarding the service department. I wasnt impressed with the dealership.

Pasadena - I received quite a bit of positive feedback from those using the service department, but I hear they are moving to another location.

Cerritos - I also received positive comments regarding the service department but I have not used it YET.

Keep us in the loop with your experience...

Splash guards, wheel locks and mats.

I probably could have gotten them to go lower on the price, but they raised my tradin amount instead.
