Thinking about NOT getting the side moldings.

the more i look at pics of cars with the ground effects kit, the more i like the pics without the mouldings.

but i still feel torn. maybe i should get the car without, then get them later if i decide i really want them.

what do you all think? this sound like the smart option?

I think you should not ask strangers to tell you what to like and what not to like. Ask a girlfriend, buddy, brother. Or ask no one. What you think looks best is what belongs on your car.

But since you did ask, I think the BSM's look like crap.

And I think BSMs look awesome. The controversy here is split down the center, so I recommend you do what you originally wanted. Don't leave them off because people on the boards don't like them, because people who like them and dislike them are a dime a dozen. Just do what you wanted. All that matters is what you like.

if you are questioning it now then leave it off. its not a now or never kinda option. you can always get it later if you want. its just held onto the door with glue. personally i think it looks bad on the car and takes away from the clean lines.

If you're questioning it because people here are telling you they don't like it, get it.

Pay $550 for a Glock 23 for your protection.

The BUMPER CAR look of the body-side-moldings look like crap,
and take away from the gradient changes in the car's profile.

JUST SAY NO!
DAMIT!

I'm not going to get them. I took a long hard look at some pics of the cars with kits with and without the moldings. I'm going to order without them.

Just wondering what everybody else thought for funsies.

I'm went against the tide today and ordered them from Curry Acura for my soon to be delivered TL. I will hold off on install but I live in the city and often have to park in tight spaces and need all the protection I can get. I have way to many battle scars on my Camry now to leave them off the TL. I agree that the car looks better without them but function must follow form in my case. Plus I will get the bodykit later which steers the eyes away from the BSMs. In fact, friend of my neighbor has a Anthracite TL with BSM and bodykit and the car looks beautiful. So no regrets on my part. Again, to each their own.

Just go ahead and put them on one side. Or maybe just the front doors.

Personally I'm going to order them soon. I just don't feel safe without them. Can't park a car around here without someone getting right next to you. They can always be taken off later. First comest the clear bra, though.

I debated the same question until I saw a car like my WDP in the dealer's showroom with them on. That killed it for me because, protection or otherwise, IMHP they ruined the clean lines. I'd rather keep parking in the middle of nowhere than put on BSM's.

People born deaf wish they were not born deaf, right?

People born blind wish they were not born blind, right?

If you've got a chance to have a perfectly healthy TL then there's no question that avoiding Puffy Lumperism is the way to go.

God bless.

Beware of Curry Honda!!! I bought an Accord there and they never delivered the wheel well trim I ordered. I moved & blew it off.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I ended up getting the bodykit, side mouldings, all season mats and wheel locks from them. The parts dept. matched prices with Norm Reeves in CA and I had my stuff in 2 business days. Your situation might have been a fluke. There was a thread here about 2 months back that ranked Curry as the #1 in satisfaction in the east coast. Someone scanned an internal customer service survey rankings chart and posted it. I take it that they never took money from your for the undelivered item. I wish you luck in the future purchases.

I think the BSM's are more visually prominent on the silver or anthracite or white models, but I finally saw an ABP with them and they almost disappeared. I had originally ordered my car with them, but the dips at the dealer forgot to put them on and I was in such an orgasm when I picked the car up I didn't even see it. I called them and told them to mail me a check for what I paid. They did.

It seems that if you like the looks of the TL with BSMs then by all means you should get them. IMHO I think if you are getting them because you believe they will protect your doors against dings you might be setting yourself up for a disappointment. The protection they offer is very limited. Sure there are alot of others who would disagree and that is fine. But, take a look at the other cars on the road. I would guess that the majority of them have BSMs. Now take notice of the cars that have door dings on them and I think you'll notice that most, if not all of them, also have BSMs that did not protect them from dings. Given the size difference of all of the cars today there is absolutely no way for the BSMs to protect you from all dings. Looking at those cars with dings you'll notice that the impact area is usually above or below the BSM. Will they protect you against a car of similar door height ? Absolutely. So while it is possible that you could wind up with less dings than if you did not have BSMs, chances are you will not wind up "dingless".
