I can't wait for you to try them. You're going to LOVE them. AFAIK I'm the only 3g using them, I want someone else to see how good they are.

As to the rest of this crazy thread, there are so many variables that it could be a close race or the 4g could pull many cars on you.

Traction control on or off, tires, aftermarket weight additions, reaction times, octane, manual or auto 4g, etc.

Your performance mods might increase power by a couple hp if that. Your maintenance items will make practically no hp but they will keep the engine running longer. Off topic, but please don't use the Lucas oil stabilizer, your engine will thank you, it's junk. Money would have been much better spent on PCDs and a Jpipe for about the same cost.

They're double the price and not in the same performance league as the NT05.

had an older audi A4 beat me last night, clearly had turbo work done...walked me by a car or 2 up at 100.

had a 330 4 door bmw...i did that to HIM.

balance of life, you win some, you lose some. Too many variables to factor in.

Get a J pipe...

I enjoy the sporty-ness of the TL. its not so much of a straight line racer, but it does beg for more in the curves.I've lightened my TL about 60lbs and I yearn for more grip, and I feel that with a sticky tire, i'll be having A LOT more fun.
thanks for recommending them to me.
I'm getting closer to the wear marks on the tires, so maybe in the next few weeks or the upcoming month, i'll have a set.

They're great tires, I didn't mean to sound like they weren't. My point was that if you were looking for a set, there are comparable tires for less money. Lucas is a blob of VIIs which can have positive effects on very old engines that are about to go to the junkyard but negative effects over time. Our TLs are so well built that all you need is regular oil and the engine will last practically forever.

Make sure you have good shocks too. The turn-in response is so sharp that it will give you a bit of bodyroll when you first turn the wheel aggressively. I'm sure the weight reduction will help with that. It took a while for me to find their limits. I was taking corners stupid fast where your brain is telling you to back out because there's no way you can go this fast. The great thing is that they give you plenty of warning when they're at the limit and break away is very gentle and controllable. I did a comparison recently with a few full "R" compound tires plus the NT05 and you would be amazed at the results. When I get an hour or so I'm going to start a thread on it.

Sorry OP, back on topic.

sounds tempting but mi tires are still new so you just gave me a good idea man i'll see if i could get them in a few months and i'll be changing the oil again next week because that oil stabilizer looked very gooey and i think it doesn't help the 5w2o oil too much.Could that be a factor of my problem?

Possible but not likely to make more than a hp or two difference. What that gooey stuff was is viscosity index improvers (VII). The less you have the better. This is the stuff that gums up ring lands, shears like crazy under stress, and is just bad for the engine. Most oils use a little VII to get the viscosity range they're looking for. It makes it easier to get for example a 5w-40 range. Without VII this same oil might only qualify as a 5w-30.

But simply put, the less VIIs the better for the engine. To get the same viscosity range with no VIIs you have to run a better (more expensive) base oil which is a good thing except for the cost. I run Redline 5w-30 which has no VIIs. It is far superior to most other oils in wear, cleanliness, shearing, and breakdown. In your climate 5w-30 is a better choice anyway. If you can afford the Redline, that is what I would do but I know things are probably more expensive where you're at. Another comparable oil is Motul but that might be just as expensive. Mobil One EP is a great 5w-30 and price is reasonable. Amsoil ACD is a great oil, I ran it for the first 60,000 miles or so. It used to be a bargain but it looks like the price is not up to $8 a quart, looks like more people have discovered it. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/acd.aspx

You could run a 10w-30 in your climate no problem. That's what I ran for the first 60,000 or so because winters were mild and summers were very hot.

thanks there is also royal purple but like amsoil and redline their rare to find here in P.R and cost 12 to 14 dollars a quart.I personaly use castrol or valvoline and change it every 2,000 miles even though its supposed to be 5,000 miles.

Guys thanks a lot for the help i recently did a reset on my tl's ecu and waited ti'll the car was warm and then took it out for a spin and felt a huge difference in the acceleration, it's not sluggish anymore. And p.s i raced a 2009 madaspeed 3 and pulled 2 1/2 cars in length untill 110 lousy 4th gear LOL.Anyone who has an auto 3 gen tl if you mod anything in the engine, exhaust, change oil etc. reset the ecu so it can adjust itself to the new mods go to the forum and check it out. Once again thanks for the help all of you's i really apreciate it and i love my car now more than ever.

My 04 Tl with my small mods alone, pulls harder than the 2010 TL Acura's loaned to us while mine's being repaired. 3G is really alot more aerodynamic is it not?

Might be but in a drag race it's not going to begin making much of a difference until the 70+mph mark. FWIW, I lost up to 3mph in the 1/4 both times I accidentally ran with my window down. This was in the mid to upper 120mph range. So something that small can have a big impact as speeds rise but again, not much difference until you're into illegal speeds.

More than likely a combination of heat soak and some less than stellar mods. First off, what the hell is an ICEMAN CAI?

Secondly, using fuel injector cleaner at full strength every single fill up is BAD. Most have detergents in them and then can do some crazy stuff to the engine seals, injectors and other components including the valvetrain.

the TL is only so fast. its a nice luxury car, with some performance. Definetely not a drag racing car. youve got to think that even the base 4g's take full advantage of newer technology, which means lighter components, and more power. So even if your car is tuned right, they could still beat you, and they might not, it just depends...

even with all the mods out there including superchargers and nitrous, i bet theres only a handful of 3g's who have broken into the low 13/high 12 second quarter mile, and id be willing to bet these people put alot of time and work into their cars (those who have please share!).

But, the TL wont be beat on dependibility or quality... that said you'll still beat most other hondas and alot of other imports, but dont expect to keep up with something like a vette or turbo mitsubishi, etc...

Still but i find it hard to believe. Oh well they're still TL's all that matters to me

It's an iceman cold air intake, don't know if they sell it in your country but it works just like any other intake system and thanks for the tips

That joke has been dead for a long time, just like my mom so stfu bro. You are wondering why cars that have more horsepower than you are beating you, just because you have intake and took off a resonator?

I guess I'm just pointing out the obvious though so im out of this thread.

In case you didn't notice the reason i posted the thread was to find out what was wrong with the cars acceleration wich apparently wasn't the computer so my bad if I offended you bro but i'm well aware that other cars are much more faster than mine. How would you feel if someone said your tl is a piece of shit in other words referring to it as a ricer vehicle (GET MY POINT?
