Red face Is there something wrong with my 04 TL?

Hi everyone i used to own a 02 tl type s now i own a 04 wich i will post pics real soon. The problem is i raced a 4 gen tl about a week a go and it was not the awd model. The car easily pulled 3 cars away from me 0 to 80.I'm mostly mad because my car has an iceman cai, mid muffler deleted, magnaflow cat 2/1/2 inch resonator along with the rest and the stock mufflers. Sometimes my car pulls hard from a dig and sometimes it feels like it looses power.WHAT COULD IT BE? SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.

OP sorry to burst your bubble, but you're still not making nearly as much power as the 4G. Yes, the 4G is heavier, but 3 cars isn't really a whole lot.

Maybe catch up on your maintenance?

Sorry my tl is auto but still a stock 4th gen base tl should be at least on par with mine i think. My car is up to date on maintenance i used the stock 5 20 oil put in a bottle of lucas oil stabilizer (just in case) and use fuel injector cleaner everytime i fill the tank and it hasn't passed even 2 weeks since the last oil change

The problem with your car is that its slower, and no intake or muffler mod will make it faster. The only way you might come close is if you had the MT.

It would be similar as to racing a TL-S. Both have very similar HP 286/280 as well as weight 3630/3699 to your258 HP 3625#.

mines the 04 it has 270 wich was later revised to 258 on 06 models and up.Still i guess since the 4 gen base tl has a 3.5 im guessing it has better low end torque.Damn should of waited and bought a manual but still i love my car and mostly got it auto because of my wife.

your car has 258 not 270 crank.
and probably about 210 to the wheels.

the testing was revised. not the engine.
your engine is the same as mine.
except i'm putting down about 230 to the wheels without including mods.

I thought I read a thread recently about a sensor that sometimes needs replaced on the Auto cars. This line is what made me think it could be that same issue:

"Sometimes my car pulls hard from a dig and sometimes it feels like it looses power."

Anyone know what I'm talking about? I've got a 6MT so I didn't pay close attention.

Someone once told me the intake adds about 20hp. Same with Nike stickers. Get some Nike stickers and race him again, sir.

APP sensor.
or an ECU reset.

you can do a simple ECU reset.
here let me find the thread for you. hang on.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/resetting-ecu-makes-me-happy-747662/
read this thread and follow the directions in order to reset your ECU.
after the reset your car should be pretty snappy.

Also, we cannot possibly tell if your car is running in optimum condition or not. you have not presented us with any hard data.
all we have to go on is....my car is sluggish.
winner for the most vague description ever.

^i don't know man...i'm not sure how it can be fast sometimes and slow other times.

different weather/humidity, different power?
full tank of gas, almost on E?
reset ECU?

when you say "fast from a dig"...fast compared to what? the other car you are racing or just in general?

OP, What kind of tires are you running, and what kind of condition are they in. Before you go replacing sensors, remove the throttlebody and clean it. If by chance your around 100,000 miles, you might want to think about replacing the plugs. You could try the ECU reset. Unless the new FWD 3.5 TL is modded, you shouldn't have any problems beating that car, because they aren't fast at all.

If the car is a dog sometimes off the line, and great other times, and this is all when the VSA is switched off, I don't think it is something consistent like crappy tires. It sounds like something that is "hit or miss" like a faulty sensor.
