That's alot

So I brought my car to the dealer to get serviced (oil change) and I asked bout the 105k service price and they quoted me $1900-2300 !!!! WOW !!! And that's with the Red Rose service discount .... Wonder how much I would save if I do it myself . Gonna ask the service advisor to print out a sheet of the parts that are involved

Got mine done for $585. Call around. Dealers match prices.

That price is retarded.

All that from am oil change LOL

1> battery: TL comes with a 100 month warranty which is 9+ years....so even yours is an 04 you have warranty until 2012...so your covered !!!
2> mounts: do you feel any vibrations ? i think they are busting ur chops on that....if you wanna get mounts, buy em outside and take em in....if you dont mind vibrations, get the innovative mounts....
3> 105K service....the dealer is minting money of the parts....(labor too) but cant help that....

Get the deal on Azine for the TB and WP ($300)...get the Gates belts from Amazon ($60)....get spark plugs and do it urself....buy the coolant of ebay or dealership ($20 for 2 Gallons)....

so $400 for parts...

now take it to the dealership and ask them how much for the labor....i bet it wont be more than 400-450....so ur out the door for $800-900

Dude..... go to cartalk and to their "mechanics files" and find yourself an independent mechanic. Your Acura dealer is milking you out with both hands and his toes.

There is no way your mounts can go bad on 105k and if the battery is gone bad, you will be the first one to know every morning.

Also if the mounts are broken, as the dealer is saying, you will notice vibration and also, when you will give the car sudden gas, you will here a distinct and loud "click" noise from around your feet. It will be loud enough to wake the curiosity but not loud enough to make you pull over the car and run screaming "bomb, bomb, bomb..."

Couldn't find the "quote multiple thread button" since I'm using my phone but here goes : umm interstate is the brand of the battery lol and the dealer was acura in glendale , and I don't feel any weird vibrations on the car or noises when I give it gas. Just seemed strange the dealer woyls say the mounts are broken when I was just there 4 months ago . And the only time my battery gave me any kind of issues was last week when it was very windy here, power outage in the neighborhood for 2 days and I used an inverter to charge my cell n laptop. But I just had it in ACC mode , dumb of me I know, and when I went to start it it was completely dead. Took about 30-40 min to jump.

^^^ LOL at using ur car to charge your laptop/cell at ACC position....

Yes the TL battery last long....mine is an 05 and am waiting for it to die out so i can get the braille battery LOL....

but yeah....i thought interstate battery's were good so if they discharge you can charge em back and be good....i saw drive your car on the highway for couple minutes....take it to the Advanced Auto Parts and have they check your electrical system....they check ur battery/alternator and stuff....this way you will know for sure if the battery needs replacing....

about the mounts, if both ur mounts are broken you will feel some serious vibrations....am thinking they are just trying to make some money off u....

According to my local dealer's website, the "Maintenance Minder 4" service is $2090.74. That includes plugs, check valve clearance, and replace the timing belt. Water pump isn't mentioned.

Not a chance I will be doing it myself (I am done with working on my own cars), but there is also not a chance I will spend that much for the dealer to do it. I will be checking with my local Honda dealer as well as a local Midas who seems to do good work for some of my friends.

It's warrantied for that long, but that doesn't mean it will last that long... Mine died after 2 years... Same with my co-worker's TL, who lives down the street...

Personally, I like the Costco batteries... Those are warrantied for 100 months too, and seem to last about 3 years... But if it dies within 3 years, they just give you a new battery no questions asked... They don't even bother to check the charge on the battery. If it lasts longer than 3 years but less then the warranty, then they pro-rate the battery. I went through like 3 or 4 of those batteries on 3 different cars... They seem to die after 3 years, so I've been getting free batteries every 3 years...

When I used to get batteries at other stores, they always insisted on checking the battery, and they always seemed to insist my batter was a smidgen in the green, so didn't qualify me for warranty replacement, so if I just went home, I usually ended up having to jump the car the next day....

Costco doesn't hassle you at all... Just bring the battery in, and they'll give you a full refund, and you just buy another battery and be done with it. Don't even need your receipt, they can look it up in the computer.

HAve somebody do the belt and the water pump, but the spark plugs are super easy to do...

100 month limited warranty on it....

i think they do a free replacement once.....then its a prorated amount....but if you are in good terms with the dealership, they can usually pull something off for ya....

^^^ its how you treat your battery bro

you take care of everything, but what do you do for ur battery ?

do you turn off ur lights before you turn the car off ?
how about turning the AC/radio off before you turn the car off ?

just doing couple things can make sure a longer battery life....Acura has a 100 month warranty and they are far from stupid....if they had put in a shitty battery, they wudnt have warrantied it for 100 months

None of that stuff with turning off this or that before turning off the car is going to make a bit of difference with regards to battery life. Longevity of your battery has everything to do with the temperature that you use your battery, as well as how well you keep your battery charged. (ie, if you don't drive it for weeks at a time, and then only go on short trips, it won't last as long as if you drive on the highway everyday)..

Likewise if you live in a hot climate, it won't last as long. Nor will it last as long if you live in a very cold climate.

105K service seems to be different depending on who you ask. To some its just the water pump and timing belt, to others its those things plus spark plugs, valve adjustment, and a myriad of other things. That said, I had my 105K service done on Wednesday and the following were replaced:

Timing belt
Tensioner
Tensioner pulley
Gaskets
Spark plugs
Idler pulley
Serpentine Belt
Water pump
Coolant
Engine oil and filter

Along with a valve adjustment (and damn...what a difference. my TL doesn't sound like an oil burner anymore) for $1500. That was after the dealer knocked off $200. If you don't have the valve adjustment done, I'd assume it'd be quite a bit less as they have to keep the car overnight to do that, etc.
