Test Drove Both Cars Today! Need Advice!
Sup guys?
I test drove both cars today.
2004 TL and 2004 TSX
I even picked up how to drive stickshift while test driving them lol..
Now i test drove both automatic AND stick-shift in BOTH cars.
TL Auto
The automatic TL's 270hp didn't feel as impressive as I thought it would. I kno its a heavier car, but still It didn't feel as powerful as I would have liked. But I'm thinking, maybe its because thas the "test driver" car, that every1 beats on when drivin in..
TSX Auto
Anywho.. the 200hp automatic TSX felt no faster than a 150hp 4cyl. 6th gen. accord. I recommed this automatic to no one hehe. Although it handled real well.
Now came the manuals.
TL 6MT
I first had my dad test drive the 6MT TL, cz he used to drive stick bak in the day, but he told me to try anyways, so I tried. And I got the hang of it, altho i wasn't anywhere near perfect, but i didn't stall once It DID feel a lot better than the automatic TL did, but I think i was too busy tryina get a feel for drivin stick, rather than getting a feel for the car itself.. but overall what I have to say about the TL is that it should have been RWD, because it feels that it has too much weight to pull. But otherwise its reallll nice. Interior and styling is beautiful.
TSX 6spd MT.
It felt REALLY fun to drive, but i think I might have noticed that because since i kinda had practice driving stick w/the TL, that I was actually able to focus on the car itself, rather than my driving it. The engine, altho not as quick, seemed more responsive. And this car handles great.
Now here's the thing...
If I choose to go with a TL, I can have it by the end of this week.
Black on black, 6spd. MT with Navi
BUT if i choose to go with the TSX, I have to wait till MAY because they will have to order one of my choice (black on black, 6MT, w/Navi)
And now im kinda stuck between both cars.. I can't decide.. I like both cars equally, each has its pro's and con's. I even made a list of pro's and con's, and they both had an equal amount of pro's and con's lol.. I kno most of you will just straight away say TL, but if you really look closely at the TSX, its a VERY nice car, and I think a lot of its features make up for its low power.
So yea.. now im stuck between both cars
I kno its my decision.. but maybe you guys can help lean me one way or another

I am actually a huge fan of the TSX...I feel like that car would be an ideal candidate for some aftermarket tuning, maybe a little more so than the TL. The power difference is one thing that may dissuade me, plus I do like having the larger TL. I think it really comes down to what you are looking to get out of it. If you want more of a lux cruiser sedan, so TL, if you are looking for a little more sportiness and handling I would go TSX. Also, the price points may help make the difference. I know waiting until May could be a pain, but it may be worth it. If you choose TSX, perhaps you can call around a bit and come across the one you want at a local dealer.

I agree with the previous posts--you really need to do a brutal cost/benefit. How do you drive? What are your particular needs/desires? What life circumstances might limit or push your decision.
For example, if you have a huge collection of MP3 music, I would get the stereo upgrade (to the CD/MP3 player) in the TSX--that is, all other things being equal.
As I have winnowed my decision, I drove both cars and loved each. Ultimately, I prefer the TL, but the TSX is very nice. Although I found that the TL felt a little heftier, it did not seem as large as its dimensional difference suggests. Also, I also perceived it to be just as agile in its handling. As for the power available, the TL clearly has more, but just how much power do you need in most ordinary driving situations? The TSX has way more than enough, I think.
Anyway, good luck and go with your gut feeling as well--which car really fits you as a person.
good luck

Maybe I'm biased but I keep hearing how people don't feel the 5AT is fast enough or doesn't feel powerful enough.
ANY 3500+lb car that runs mid 14's in the qtr mile is considered powerful. There was a time not too long ago that the Corvette and many other muscle cars would be happy in the 15's. Heck back in 1979 Ford had the balls to claim the Boss is back with a 150HP Mustang that ran 16.2.
The 5AT TL is plenty powerful for a family sedan... end of rant...

Throttle by wire feels much different when you test drive the TL. After you own the car for a while, the car adjusts to your driving style and the car will feel much more responsive before you know it. The TL is a remarkable performer for the money. I don't understand comparing it to the TSX at all. Either you can afford to step up to the TL or you can't. That seems like the only factor unless your hung up on the turn signals being in the mirrors.

I completely agree!!! The problem is that this car is so SMOOTH that it does not feel like it is moving fast. My old Firebird FELT like you were thrown back in the seat due to the V8 and low end torque, but it is no faster than the TL. Also, the V8 would be screaming LOUD, this car you can hardly hear....
People always think that butt dyno is correct, but it is not!

test drove both the TSX and the TL in 6MT when i was trying to decide. the TL is a lot stronger, put that bad boy in second and hammer down on the accelerator. even if you don't know how to drive a stick well, go test drive again and get it in 2 gear(or third) then floor the thing. the TL just keeps wanting to pull harder every time i step on the accelerator. the tsx was a little more nimble but not by much in my opinion. the interiors are very similar but i like the guages on the TL better. it was a tough choice for me because the cars were so similar and i was trying to justify the price difference. in the end i wanted the larger car with the larger engine and the beautiful black brembo brakes. either car you go with i am sure you will be happy with. i think they are the 2 best cars for the money.

Had a TSX loaner for the whole day when I brought my 04 TL for a fix of the memory seat loss.... Loved the way it handled. It was more agile than the TL (BTW, both cars are auto)....
My take on both is that the TL pulls a lot stronger than the TSX. I was thinking of trading my non-NAV TL for a NAV-TSX after I was having fun with the TSX, but when I got my car back, the V6 power put me back to place...

hmmm...TSX vs TL? why even bother comparing the TWO? IMO, the TSX doesn't even compare to the TL...it would only matter if money was an issue...but after lokking at the TL how could you still like the TSX? sorry dude...i dunno...the TSX just looks...um...i don't want to get flamed so i will just say that it doesn't appeal to me...i mean it's a nice looking car...but PLEASE don't compare it to the TL....anyway, goodluck in your decision..... either way you will be happy

I think it is a perfect comparision, despite what some people say. Money was not a serious object for me (company car), but I still looked at the TSX. If I didn't have to drive 500 miles a day on some trips, I probably would have gotten the TSX. I like the lightweight (relatively speaking, of course) feel over the big heavy TL. It reminded me more of my 1986 Integra 5spd that I loved so much. If I didn't have to get customers or carseats in the back seat, and if I wasn't droning on for hours down an interstate, the TSX would have fit my driving better. You throw this TL into the corner and you can hear Newton and Einstien yelling "whoaaaaaaa, still got physics here boy!"
