will it cost more to insure a 04 TL 6speed/navi than it is to insure an 03 accord coupe 6speed/navi...in nyc..?
when i trade in my coupe do i just call up my insurance company and tell them i'm trading my car and to add the TL to the policy and to remove the accord coupe..?
would i have to pay anything to get the insurance started.?

Since you already have insurance on your coupe (you do, don't you?), you should call your insurance company and ask them these questions. They won't get mad and will have all the information needed to give you the correct answers.
It will certainly cost more to insure a brand new car which cost a lot more than your coupe. You will have to pay an adjusted premium due to the increased cost.

It also depends on where in NYC you live, each borough has considerably different rates, with Brooklyn being by far the highest. Thank goodness I live on Staten Island, which has the lowest rate of the five. I was also cross-shopping for an 04 Accord and the insurance quotes I got for it were anywhere from 50 - 100 bucks cheaper for 6 months than the TL's.
Hey if you like value and want to save on insurance, you can do what I did. I took defensive driving and got 10% off my insurance(liability portion) and this saves a good deal of insurance. I don't know why more people do this.
I was paying $1900 ($500 deductible) for my 2000 V-6 Accord. I have a clean record and get 5 discounts from GEICO, use the car only for pleasure and keep it garaged.
My TL is $2300 a year.
Ouch!
