Locked out getting Chicken!

I swung into the Colonel's for some chicken and mashed. Using the valet key I wanted to keep the car running but lock the doors.

Coming back with my arms loaded with bags of food the remote would not unlock the doors! I thought I was locked out!

I was standing in front of the rear door where the food goes for the trip home and the dumb door would not open. Repeated presses of the unlock button did nothing.

After a while I tried the drivers door and it was not locked! Had it been stolen the $1500 dent I did last month after the Eye Doctor Debacle would have been GONE with a new replacement car. Gotta love the Gap insurance...

All of that sounds normal. The remote isnt suppose to work when there is a key in the ignition. And usually the drivers side door wont lock when the key is in the ignition and the door is open.

You think your insurance will cover you when you leave the key in the ignition?

Lucky I did not have to find out if the car would be covered with a key in it. Kind of makes the autostart feature more attractive. My Chevy truck I can hold brake remove key, engine stays running and doors of course lock and unlock by remote with motor running...
