terrible luck..

So I parked my car on the side of the road and came back to find this:

The paint has flaked off and it looks like bare metal is exposed. To make things worse, it looks like the damage is in an area that'll require replacement of the entire panel from the left tailight housing all the way to the a-pillar if it can't be smoothed out.

Of all places to get hit, it has to be in that area... seems like no one really saw it either so it'll be difficult to prove a hit-and-run..

How much do you guys think this kinda repair would cost? Looks like it'll cost a fortune

yea it will probably be pretty pricey, but if you have comprehensive insurance, they should take care of it

Yuck. Sorry to hear this. Depending on the body shop you choose, they might be able to reshape that corner. Most shops will want to chop it though. Not to the A-Pillar, but the C-Pillar. A-Pillar is by the front windshield.

oh, it looked like the whole thing was one piece and it runs all the way down to the a-pillar.

yea i wouldnt have the panel changed.... id have it pulled n bonded correctly.....when u start altering the structure of the body to replace parts that can be easily fixed with other methods unless absolutely necessary....itll never ever feel the same. and thatll add to creaks and noises to drive u nuts

thanks for the advice - i was thinking the same thing, so i'll just have them reshape it and see if I'm satisfied with the results.
