Team Nighthawk - NEED YOUR HELP

Apparantly, we've lost our old website so we have no access to the member list.

So I took it upon myself to begin to mock up a replacement website for us (with thanks to Team Anthra, since I temporarily borrow some of their text). Hopefully when it's finished the site will be self-maintained by our members. No need for anyone to wait for the webmaster to add your information - you can now do it all yourself.

What I need is a few Team Nighthawk members to help test what I have so far. Basically to do the following:

#1 - Try to break it. Let me know if you find any errors. (I'm sure you will!)
#2 - Tell me what you think so far. Look & feel, whatever.
#3 - Tell me what other options you might like added in.

And most importantly,

#4 - Tell me if you want me to continue working on this, or is there another webmaster somewhere. (I don't want to step on toes...)

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to build a site!

As to your first question I found one error. The system won't display any more than 50 characters from the bio section.
2.) its easy to use and navigate so far, I am sure as time goes on things will be added on.
3.) maybe you can add a news bullitin where any media about our TLs are posted there for people to see. Just a suggestion.

Once again thanks for taking the time to built a site.

p.s. what did you use to build the site with?

OK - Updated the Bio section to allow for more than 50 chars. Good catch, thanks!

The site was developed in Cold Fusion using Dreamweaver.

Cool, another idea...how about putting a join date and time on there? I know some people joined earlier before the other site went down. Just a suggestion.

Two quick updates...

#1 - Allowed for longer URLs. (Previously URLs were capped at 50 chars, which cause some longer URLs to show up as broken images.)

#2 - Automatically scaled down oversized images. If you post an image that is more than 750pixels wide (you know, those HUGE images that you have to scroll sideways and up and down to see, it will automatically shrink the image to fit on the screen...)

Personally, I hate browser scaling, because it's highly browser dependent and many browsers use cheap fast algorithms that result in crappy aliased scaling. I'd make the scaled-down images clickable so that anyone who wants to view the original image unscaled can do so. Just my $0.02.

Let me think about that. Making the images clickable is very easy but I'm not a big fan of making people keep having to click the back button to return to the page, however the alternative is to open the image in a new window and lots of people have pop-up blockers.

I'll probably end up doing it in a new window, but offer some feedback on your preferences...

Thanks for working on this EpiK. I'll try and get back with you. I also have information that I can give from the old website.

I updated the front page with the "Legend of the Black Pearl", and added a picture of one of your TLs on the top with some RonJon wheels. It's a great picture, except for the front licence plate bracket.

I think we should take a vote on what car photo should be the one that we use on the main page though. I just randomly picked one, and don't wanna piss anyone off by either not using theirs, or using it when they didn't want it used...

I'll give you guys the code if you want it when I'm finished with it. You just gotta promise you can't make the graphics on your site cooler than ours.

I've got a few more "adds" to do to it first though. (for example a page to e-Mail lost passwords to people, and a mini-admin section to delete duplicate posts, etc...)

I just had a great idea, I think I'm gonna photoshop a Carolina Panthers logo on that front plate!

OK maybe not, but I'll see about adding some sort of Nighthawk on it instead...

I think this pic is awesome, and shows off the Paint just as clean. the plate is more at an angle and the white part of the plate can be edited out easilly.
Appreciate the support too, wait till we get these damn kits shot with some forged wheels in a weet background, then you can really do something sweet with the banner and inside images.

Ron,

That is a cool picture of the car, but there's a BRICK WALL behind it. At least on the other picture there was some nice scenery!

(anyone got any pictures of their detailed TL with a woman in a bikini stretched out on the hood?)

Hey Epik,

I don't have NBP, but maybe you could create a checkbox where people want to click while registering when they know that they have oversized picture... where it will set a test next to the name "56K warning" or something to that effect.. Although you had it scaled down (looking at Tswaibel), the download might take a while for 56K'ers... it took me about 20 secs to load all the pics tho i think i have a pretty good bandwidth...
