Tape adhesive question..

I got my TL about a week ago, and I washed it for the first time today. After really washing it good, I noticed that there is still what appears to be tape adhesive from when the car was shipped in certain areas on the exterior of the car. If I lived anywhere near the dealership I got it from, I would bring it back there, but it's about 300 miles away. Any suggestions on how to safely remove the tape without scratching the paint? Thanks.

It's called Goo Gone and it's great. Just test it on an inconspicuous area first and then wash the area off as soon as you remove the adhesive.

i dunno about not damaging the paint shine but i would not use it. certainly stay away from the paint thinner, that will probably ruin your finish. take it back to the dealer and have them remove it or take it to a local detailing place.

I had the same sticky junk all over my car. I used WD-40-it works well. I would be worried about using paint thinner.

Lighter fluid will work just fine if it is not a big area.

As Novice suggested, I've used WD-40 before also. I was surprised on how well it works.

I had the same issue and tried to have the dealer TWICE remove it properly. I just ended up doing it myself and used 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover in an aresol can. Purchased it at WalMart for $4.00 or something. Worked very well. It is safe on our paints - I can vouch for that.

3M also makes an all organic citrus remover which probably would do the trick as well. The labeling said it was also safe for paints.
