Take Care of your TL Please

Today I saw a guy driving his 07 TL Type S with a 4 by 4 wood. One end down in his back seat and the other end leaning out his front windowon the glass b/c it was cold.about 2 feet infront of his windshield. Am sorry but It kinda sucks for me who has an 05 and he has the 07 type s and I cant afford it to see something like that. You all can bash me for being a sissy but it just sucked for that car to be used like that.

Maybe the guy doesn't have immediate access to a truck/SUV and needed to haul some lumber for a DIY project.

Hell, I throw my golf club carrier in the back seat, without putting anything down, because it won't fit in my trunk and both ends lean against the door.

Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I do appreciate those people who take good care of their cars. After all, you must have respect for your own property before you can respect anothers.

Come on it's his car. He probably doesn't bash you for parking at the back of the lot, not eating or drinking in the car etc. As long as the wood doesn't touch your car just mind your own business. Or if you must, hate me for doing like him + going through automatic car washes. Everybody doesn't have to feel like you do, it's OK.

Like i always say....to each his own. I would rather pay one of those vans in home depot's parking lot to bring it home than put it in my car. Some people dont give a damn tho. I sell certain customers a car and that will be the last time that car ever gets a wash and wax. People have come back to me 3 years later to get another car and i refuse to even sit in their trade because its so filthy. To some people its just a car. To us its more than just a mode of transportation or we wouldnt even be on this board!

Give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Perhaps one end of the RR tie was wrapped in a soft cloth to avoid damaging the leather.

And perhaps he was taking it slowly enough so as not to damage the front window against which it sat.

And perhaps he's a member of this forum & feeling a bit silly for having been spotted using his car like a truck.

OTOH, perhaps he was simply a jerk.

Maybe he's got a Lincoln Mark LT with the 20-inch wheels and doesn't want to get it dirty!

i'm guessing you wouldn't like to hear that i've used my TL's front seat to transport a 32" Tube TV. some people don't own trucks, and don't want to pay to rent one. so we use what we have. either way it's only a car

Maybe he was hauling the wood for a mod to the TL.

I let my wife ride in the passenger seat and kids in the back seat sometimes.

Is that a bad thing??

Dwight would not want to see my car, he would have me arrested. Since our garage fire totalled my '05 S2000 and 4 other cars, we bought the TL in October and it has never seen the inside of a garage. This has been one of the worst winters that Denver, CO has seen and my beloved TL has seen about 3 feet of snow piled on it, huge chunks of ice dripping from it and the usual road crap ladened ice hanging from all 4 wheel arches. Am I worried ? No, Honda/Acura built it to take this punishment and more. I will just give her a thorough cleaning in the spring when I move into my rebuilt house next month, whichever comes first.

I don't see the big deal about putting a 4x4 in a TL. I would assume he took obvious precautions to avoid any damage to his car, but man, to hire someone to transport a 4X4...now that would be crazy!. It's not like throwing stones in a glass house.

Well no it was just laying on the glass but I guess that doesnt really matter. You are guys are all right. I am a clean freak when it comes to my car. I fell for the TL the first time I layed my eyes on it Gen 3. I had an 04 eclipse then really decked out Tv, Playstation and all. I told myself that I had to hav one. So when I got deployed I saved all my deployment cash sold the eclipse b4 I left and got my TL. Like I said its is the guys car, but I still get this ichy felling when I see stuff like that. I plan on keeping mine new as possible for as long as I have it. Thanks for the feedback guys and am glad you all kept it real

Oh please, thats what the car is designed for. DO do what you need it to do. I piece of wood isnt going to hurt it. Especially if your carefull putting it in.

I haul wood in mine

man i kept my car clean wash and vacuum 2-3 times a week and wax and polish once sometime twice a month...until this drunk girl used it to hold her self up and scratched form the gas tank to the driver door and on top of that when she opend her door swung it open so far that she dented it. i was parked on the corner away from everyone by the wall on one side and she had to park next to me. i dint notice anything until the next day since it was dark and raining. she was sleeping in the car, now its like i dont wash it to hide the scratch....every body shop want 600+ to fix it

I understand what your saying. While I dont think putting wood in your car is abusing it I understand what your saying. Im 17 and had to pay for most of my car and I have to put gas in it. It bothers me so much when people my age get these amazing cars from there parents and all they do is just beat the shit out of them. They know if there car fucks up that there parents will fix it so they "drove it like they stole it." Man it pisses me off so much and I just want to

Well, I'm driving around my three month old TL with my driverside rear quarter panel bashed and bumper scratched from a hit and run when my car was at work. The bodyshop that the dealer exclusively works with is tied up for another week and a half.

So I can wonder what people are thinking when they see me drive by...
