Synthetic Oil?

Is it better to go with Synthetic oil in the TL or just stick with the conventional oil? Which brand do most people use?

Thanks,

David

Ahh, the question about synth vs mineral oil again. Search for posts by Road Rage and Michael Wan. These two gentlemen continually provide a wealth of info regarding oil. Here's one to start you off with Synthetic vs Mineral Oil. Mind you, this is but one of RR's posts and makes for interesting reading.

I use Mobil 1 0W-30 synthetic. Works and protects a lot better than the 5W-20

I've been contemplating the switch too but I am in no way handy enough to change my own oil. I know that's pretty pathetic! Will Acura put in sythetic oil if you ask for it during a scheduled maintenance visit?

It depends on the size of your wallet!! Joking aside, it depends on whether you are planning to do a longer OCI (oil change interval), ie, how many miles between each oil change. Generally speaking, one use synthetic oil for long OCI (like 10k to 15k miles) vs 3-5k miles that most people do their oil change at.

Personally, I am doing 4.5k miles OCI for the last 3 oil changes using dino

FYI, I used MotorCraft SynBlend 5W-20 on first oil change, but have been using Mobile Clean 7500 5W-20 in the last 2.

Use the search feature, this has been discussed many many times.

Happy motoring
