Finally ordered the underbody kit

I've been debating about purchasing the underbody spoiler kit (OEM) for some time now, and I finally ordered it yesterday at the dealer. I don't have the money to buy the whole A-spec kit, I will buy it piece by piece.

I paid 834.00 for the four color matched pieces. Is that ok? They wanted 350.00 bucks to install the darn kit, I would rather install it myself. Looks easy enough. Any tricks I should know?

Thanks.

There is really nothing to it. Just make sure you have a buddy to help you out. My friend and I installed the bodykit in half a day which I thought was pretty good given the fact that (a) we had both never installed a body kit before (b) we aren't the "handiest" of men. It really wasn't that hard because the instructions that come with the bodykit are pretty straight forward. Good luck

What all additional does the A-Spec Kit have more than the Underbody Kit?

rear wing or lid spoiler, new steering wheel, shocks, springs, wheels and tires. I think that's it.

Yeah that seems right. I am not sure if the steering wheel is worth it? Whats the difference really besides the blue threading??? I already have the rear wing, and I will get the wheels and tires soon, need to negotiate on those to be below invoice. I hooked up my sales manager and sales guy with free dinners, shows and very discounted rooms at the hotel I work at. So when I ask for things, they will give me the best prices and service as they can.

the wheel is exactly like stock with blue stitches and some aluminum colored trim where thumbs rest... very similar to stock.

Yeah. I agree. If you were to upgrade your steering you might want to look at the '06 carbon fiber trim wheel which is kinda cool.

Okay, finally my parts came in and it turned out to be only 804.75 for all four OEM pieces colored. I asked the sales manager to make me a deal on install or I'll just do it myself. They offered $175 to install all four and than it would included in the regular car warranty. Actually the install comes out ot be only $125.00 after a $50.00 loyalty credit they will give me for purchasing the parts from them.

So grand total $929.75 for full install and parts . Is that good?

Yes it is. My dealer wants to charge me $1127.00 for all the pieces minus install. Do you know if someone from another state can order from your dealership?

I am sure they can do that, I'll check with them this weekend. You said they want to charge you 1127.00 not including install? if they were to ship it, it may be a bit pricey to ship.

paid $950 installed. Check on ebay kits are reasonable and gives you an idea just how much YOUR dealer will make, tack on 2 hours of labor at $70/hr and voila, your price as well as how much that dealer REALLY appreciates your business.

Not bad price, the Acura dealer charged 108.00/hr for labor. Did you get yours installed at the dealer?

I bought the go fast pieces instead. Upgrading the suspension and wheel/tire combo made a significant difference in performance.

You have to drill holes. Theres also 3M stick tape that comes with it for extra reinforcement. I'm looking to get the kit by next spring hopefully. I want to wait till winter is over. From all the post, people have said that its an easy install.

108.00 AN HOUR!?!?! Remind me not to move to IL.......

Around here (NH) most dealers are around 65-85/hr.. Although I haven't been to my Acura dealer for anything yet (my TL is only about 5 months old). Are ALL Acura dealers that expensive?

HA $108/hr is nothing. In CA the dealers charge $120-140/hr. No wonder I go to an independant shop for maintenance. Only $60/hr.

just got back home, I let the dealer do it. For 125.00 for all four pieces, I didn't care, and plus its covered under car warranty. They did a good job, and they even gave me a loaner car with only a weekends notice.

You have to talk and be nice!!! being nice always helps. Also rating the dealer 100% on JD Power & Assoc gives extra points. I hooked up the sales manager and service manager with dinners and free tickets to shows. I also donated stuff to there annual customer appreciation dinner/party so they can raffle it off. Nothing out of my pocket, but money saved and back in my pocket.

Well, yesterday I called and asked about the A-spec emblem to see how much it was, he told me he will get back to me on it.

Today I went in and he told me its on its way, so I asked how much...no charge! retails for like $45.00. I love this dealership!

Questions to everyone:

Would it be stupid to have the A-spec emblem on without having the full kit or is it ok? I only have the wing spoiler and the underbody spoiler kit. Missing the rims/struts and steering wheel <---- don't plan on getting.

lol, thought so...I had the car washed today to take pictures, but noticed no memory card! I am still looking for it. Either way, I'll just borrow my friends camera tommorow and post some pics. I didn't think of posting any because its so basic.

Where is everyone getting these kits for so cheap? My dealership quoted me $1300 just for the parts. When I heard that, I didn't even bother to ask about the install costs. Any help? I thought I saw someone post that they for it for around $800 shipped somewhere?

Dude! Don't you just love the underbody kit??? I had mine installed when I bought the car - my labor was around 250-300 as I remember (but I was a starry-eyed idiot and didn't negotiate with them).

The cool thing is - I live in a town of about 75K. Only about 10 TL's in town that I've seen & nobody else has the UBK. It makes a HUGE difference in the look of this car! Congrats & can't wait to see the pics. BTW - have you been happy with Nighthawk? My old Accord was black & I loved it for the 15 minutes it stayed clean. I went with Anthracite this time & is a huge difference in staying clean. But I must admit - it doesn't look as hot as the black when it's all cleaned up.
