Switching to Synthetic Oil ?
I just purchased the car about 3 weeks ago and looking to change the oil real soon. I have no idea what kinda of oil is already in the car now but I want to run synthetic from now on..
Anyone know if there is a problem with switching to synthetic now after 70k miles?

no problem at all- you can even change back and forth if you want- the engine does not care!
70 is just getting broken in, these engines will go 200 no sweat and 300+ if taken care of.
With an unknown history I would run a can of Seafoam in the oil for 30 minutes before changing oil and filter- that will clean the oil passages spotless and thats what you want.
VTEC operates on oil pressure changes...
Good idea now to do a Seafoam of the gas tank- 1 16oz can in 1/2 tank gas
and the intake manifold method 1 can there too--see diy thread- search gen3 for Seafoam
It removes all the built up carbon and by-products that stick to important parts like piston tops and valve edge where it seals when closed
Do that and a week later install new NGK Iridium spark plugs,,not called for till 100 but will help the car now to get better mileage--50 bucks in plugs and 20 in seafoam pays you back fast
Mobil1 high mileage is good,(they changed names around so be careful to get the right `good stuff` not the standard mobil1)
Penzoil Platinum also well liked
Mobil1 oil filter and K&N filter very good- price $12
stay away from fram
