Is it Suppose to be Lighted?

I have had my 05 TL since October and this is the first time I noticed this. While trying to adjust the outside mirrors at night I located the mirror adjustment, which is left of the steering wheel on the lower dash. This indicator is lighted, but I could not find the left/right selection switch without turning on the inside lights. This is the switch that energizes the left or right mirror. Is this switch supposed to be lighted?

Hmmm...I'd have to wait until tonight to look for sure...but I don't think that it is lighted.

If not...no worries...just feel around for it...push it all the way left for left...all the way right for right...and center for center. Just remember that center disables the reverse-tilt function. Some people have a tendency to forget this and think theirs is broken.

Once you get used to it...it's really no biggie. I don't even look down there anymore to make adjustments.

bfogarty - the mirror selector switch is not lit in the '04 I'm about 95% sure they aren't in the '05 either. The only time it lights up is if you turn on the heater.

crazy - cup holders are in the center console under a slding door .. they do not fold out nor are they lit.

Well, they're kinda lit. There are the two blue LEDs in the ceiling that bathe the center console in blue moonlight.

Thanks everyone for the repsonses. It is not a big deal, but the beauty of this forum is that you can get questions like this answered very quickly so that if there is a problem you can get it fixed. In pre-internet days I would have had to stop another TL owner on the street. Of course I could always ask a service representative at the dealer, but in all fairness, I have had the car for months and did'nt notice it and I would'nt expect them to know off-hand if it is suppose to light.

The only time it lights up is if you turn on the heater? you mean the heaters for the mirrors right? This makes no sense. I fit is capable of being lit up, why not have it lit up all the time?

only the light on the button to turn on the mirror defrosters lights up...not the entire unit.
