Sunglass holder accessory needed

IMHO, the stock sunglass holder in the door is 1) poorly placed, 2) poorly designed in shape, 3) fails to ensure security, 4) leaves me feeling that some day I'll reach for my sunglasses and find only empty space (if I can find the pocket without taking my eyes off the road).

Someone needs to design and build what the VW's have had as an accessory for many years: A clamshell, spring loaded sunglass holder that fits in place of the driver's side "Oh Shit" handle.

Any accessory people out there?.....

Imo your RIGHT!
In my 03`tls the sunglass holder was in the center, above the rear view mirror...perfect!
Now the only thing it good for is a squeek

I had the 2nd Gen TL as well & when I left my sunglasses up there in the summer, they would be to hot to put on my face, I had to hold them in front of an ait conditioning vent to cool them off, which is why I was happy to see the new place for sunglasses down below.

I heard something about it being modular, you can take it out and place it somewhere else, IE, the center console.

I have absolutely no problem with the sunglass holder. I can easily put in and take out my glasses with no problem.

I know that the holder is removable, but isn't that just to create more room in the door? Unlike the change tray, there isn't another location that is made for it to fit into is there?

I just miss the clamshell holder in place of the upper handle. I'm sure that sooner or later someone will make this product for the TL as well.

You're right...the sunglass holder in the door is just horrible. I don't know what type sunglasses it was designed for, but mine(Oakley) don't fit. I use the center console drawer for my sunglasses and battery adapter for my cellphone. Both fit in the drawer out of sight until needed. I threw out the flimsy POS holder from the door. It was embarassing to even show it to someone and try to explain what it's for so I just threw it out.

Must have been tired last night. What I forgot to write is that the sunglass holder in my old Jetta was a VW manufactured and sold accessory. Replacement of the "Oh Sh*t" handle took 1 minute. Here are a couple pics that show the mod. Nicely lined too, to protect the sunglasses and spring loaded to slowly close. Downside is that large wrap-around Oakleys and the like will also not fit in this holder.

Maybe i'm missing something, but it is true that the sunglass holder is removable just to make up extra space, right? there isn't another place it can go, which makes it different than the change-holder.

i have 2--does everyone else have 2 sunglass holders?
