Angry This Sucks

So, I have had my new ssm/ebony w/navi for a week and a half and already someone hit the top of my right front fender putting a large (4" X 8") dent. No note or attempt to let me know. I figured it could only have happened at the rest area on the Garden State (near NY border) on Friday morning. Less than 1k miles and already injured. Why can't people own up to their actions instead of fleeing? There is no way of not knowing what they did with a dent of this size. It had to be a truck since they did not touch the side of the car (only on the top right over the headlight.

Of course it sucks.

It should teach you to park as far away as possible from everyone else.

I did and always do. I guess this made me the primary target.

And now you know why I park as far away as possible AND spend as little time away from my car as I can (I also check my car immediately upon return).

Yeah... I'm paranoid

was there any paint that chipped off? if not then try paintless dent removal, for the most part they can pop it back out pretty easily.

In my state you own up you pay. Of course if they hit and run they do not...

In the first week a person backed up and put there trailer hitch into my license plate. A witness was there and yelled at the guy and he got out and looked the car over. The witness took the number and gave it to me... The guy had had a few beers and of course in additionl to the insurance surcharge if the police had shown up he would have had a lot more to pay..

So he figured cheaper to take off. Someone with a new car can obviously afford it...

No damage...

call the police anyway...

behavior like that is usually a stepping stone to something worse. It's human nature.

My mothers car was hit by an SUV while parked the day she got it. There is a science to car parking. It envolves being as close to the curb as possible and some other stuff.

Unfortunately there are a few scratches (at least I think they are scatches - could be black off from a bumper). I will be taking it to a local auto body shop that I have used before that does a great job. I just hope that they are not too busy as I want this fixed and they are the place of choice for all those in the know.

Sorry to hear that. I had a high ding in the first month we got our TL, and I just found another ding on the passenger door a few inches below the keyhole. Folks are really ignorant.

i drive through that rest area to get to DD for my coffee in the am. That rest area is a MAD HOUSE. You arent one of those commuters who park and ride there are you? I would never leave my TL in that lot. Get a beater for that.

If you see an SSM/Ebony '05 blazing through there late for work...thats me.

Just a quick follow-up. I have the car back and the repair is excellent - never would know it was damaged. Lesson learned: Do not leave the car unattended in a rest area (my wife and I will take turns leaving the car - me first )

miiipilot,

one trip to that area and you'll never wonder why again... probably the closest thing that the East Coast has to a DMZ
